Knowledge + The aims: Reading a text to understand Tim’s letter about his parents’ job and practice more in the present simple tense. - Vocabulary: - Vocabulary: take care of, work part- time, play golf, mechanic, machine, shift, homeless - Structure: present simple tense to talk about activities, body of the letter.2. Skills: Listening about after-school activities. 3. Attitude: Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading for details. B. Preparations 1.Teacher: computer, speaker, projector, text book, cards for word cue drill, poster 2. Students: Unit 7 B1 C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Bingo, Ordering, Comprehension questions, Transformation writing. D. WARM UP (5 minutes) Bingo - Ask Ss to write 4 names of the jobs they have learnt. - Teacher reads : Teacher, doctor, student, nurse, farmer, worker, driver, shop assistant, dentist, bank clerk, actor, policeman, journalist. - Praise the winners. III. NEW LESSON Step 1 : Pre Reading(12ms) : *Aim: -SS can understand and pronounce the words well. T introduces the content of the text. *Methods: Rub out and remember, ordering Individual, pair work * Time: 12’ * Procedure 1.Vocabulary : : Elicit – model – repeat – copy - check ( trans) ( explain) ( picture) ( example) ( explain) ( Trans) (person without home) - take care of : chăm sóc - work part- time : làm việc bán thời gian - play golf : chơi gôn - mechanic (n) : thợ máy - machine (n) : máy móc - shift (n) ca làm việc - homeless (adj) : vô gia cư Checking voc : Rub out and remember 2. Ordering ( for main ideas ) - Teacher sticks the poster on the board - Set the scence: You will read a letter from Tim Jones. He writes to Hoa to tell her about his family, his parents’ work. Read four main ideas of the letter and guess which is the first, which is the second, the third, the fourth - Ss predict the order of the main ideas in the letter - Teacher gives feedback Step 2 : While Reading(17ms) : *Aim: -SS can understand and check the order. *Methods: ordering, Comprehension questions Individual, pair work * Time: 17’ * Procedure 1. Checking prediction - Ss read B1.P76 to check their prediction - Call on some students to answer the questions - Give feedback 2. Comprehension questions - Get ss to read the letter again and answer the questions on page 77. - Have ss work in pairs and find out the answers . - Call on some pairs to do before class for feedback. Step 3 : Post Reading (7ms) *Aim: -SS can understand and writing about their own family *Methods: Transformation writing Individual, group work * Time: 7’ * Procedure Transformation writing - Divide the class into groups of three. - Ask them to rewrite the letter on page 76 , replacing the information about Tim’s family with the information about their own family. - Monitor and help students. - Call on some students to read out their letters for feedback. - T gives feed back and corrects. IV. SUMMARY (1 minutes) - Reading a letter to understand about some jobs - Practising simple present tense V. HOMEWORK (2 minutes) - Finish the writing at home - Do ex in the ex book. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work, group work - Some techniques can be used: Network, slap the board, presentation text, word cues drill D.
