Aims: By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to talk about life and activities in the countryside . 2. Practice skill: Listening, reading, writing. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: Introduce life and activities in the countryside . + Advanced knowledge: Speaking about basic characters of the countryside. 4. Basic language: - Vocabulary: countryside, picnic, buffalo, paddy fields, banyan tree, journey, maize, farmer, snack, ... - Structure: - 'wish' + could 5. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice listening and reading for details, doing some exercises. B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster. C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Rub out ad remember, Chatting, R & R, gap fill D. Warm up :(3’) Chatting about the city or countryside 1. Do you usually to the countryside ? 2. Are you familiar with the countryside life ? 3. Do you like the countryside life ? 4. What activities do you see in the countryside ? - Call on some Ss to answers in front of the class. - Ask Ss to look at the pictures in the book and introduce “ In today,s lesson , We will study about countryside . Now you work with a partner and take turn to talk about activities in the countryside . “ 1. What do you see in the picture 1,2,3... ? 2. What is he/she doing ? 3. Where are they ? - Call on Ss to answers and correct if necessary . - Give the correct answers : 1. Watering the vegetables . 2. Swimming in the river . 3. Feeding the chickens 4. Harvesting the crops . 5. Feeding the pigs . 6. Plowing in the field . 7. A buffalo boy is flying his kite . 8. Some children are playing football . Ask Ss to repeat and copy . III / New lesson Step 1: Pre – reading (7’) Introduce the contents of the lesson to Ss . Then present some new words : Elicit – model – Repeat – copy – check - ‘home village ( translation)làng quê - paddy field = rice paddy: ruộng lúa - bamboo forest (n) : explanation rừng tre - banyan tree (n) : Explanation cây đa - river bank ( picture) bờ sông - shrine (n) đền, miếu * Checking technique : Rub out ad remember - Ask Ss some questions about the countryside : 1. Do you usually come back to the countryside ? 2. When did you last do that ? 3. How did you get there ? 4. Whom did you get there with ? 5. What did you see on the way to the village ? - Call on some s to demonstrate in the front . * Introduce “ Today we will listen and read about Liz,strip to the countryside with Ba,sfamily” - Ask Ss to listen and read then decide the statements are true or false . - Write their predictions on the board Step 2.While – reading :(20’) - Turn on the tape (2 or 3 times ) - Call on Ss to read their answers aloud . - Remark and correct mistakes if any . - Give correct answers : 1.F ( Ba and his family had a day trip to their home village .) 2. T 3. F ( There is a big old banyan tree at the entrance to the village ) 4. F ( people had snack under the banyan tree) 5. T 6. F . People had a picnic on the river bank ) 7. T 8. F ( Liz took a lot of photos to show the trip to her parents ) 9. T - Ask Ss to read the text again and answer the questions : - Ask Ss to exchange their roles to practice : - Call on some pairs to practice in front of the class. - Remark and give correct answers : 1. It is 60 kilometers to the north of Ha Noi 2. Ba and his family got to the village by bus . 3. The banyan tree is at the entrance to the village . 4. They saw the shrine of Vietnamese hero on the mountain . 5. They had a picnic on the river bank . 6. Liz took a lot of photo to show the trip to her parents . - Ask Ss to read all the answers again and copy . - Call on some Ss to read the text aloud . - Correct mistakes , especially pronunciation Step 3 Post –reading : (10’) * Exercise : Fill in the gap with most suitable word. 1. Aims: By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to listen to the trip to Ba’ s village, match the places on the bus route with the letter on the map, listen and talk about their village and know more about the places on the way to the countryside . 2. Practice skill: - Practice listening. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge:Listening for specific information about someone’s home village. +Advanced knowledge: Draw a map and show the bus route to their home village. 4. Basic language: - Vocabulary: - gas station (n) - highway (n) - parking lot (n) - pick somebody up, route (n): - Structure: The past simple 5. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to listen to the trip to Ba’ s village, match the places on the bus route with the letter on the map B. Teaching- aids: Poster, colored chalks , picture C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work,group work - Some techniques can be used: Slap the board, Jumbled Words, Matching, Prediction . D. Procedure: I. Prepare the next lesson: Unit 3 L4 Read. - Play games ( Team game ) Listen and repeat all the words in chorus and individually . Work in pairs to match the words and its meanings . Read their answers aloud and copy down - Gues to match the places on the bus route with the letters on the map. - Listen and check their predictions . - Compare with a friend - Demonstrate in front of class. - Listen again and check their answers .
