OBJECTIVES 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a passage about the benefits of the internet *Vocabulary + Structure: the present simple, words talk about the Internet. 2. Competence: - General capacity:self-learning ability, communication capacity, capacity to use language, cooperation capacity,… - Specilized capacity:English language ability, develop self capacity,.. 3. Quality: Understanding the benefits of the Internet, willing to participate in social activities, live humanty, cooperate with people around,… II./.PREPARATION: 1.Teacher: book, planning, picture, laptop, projector 2.Students: books, notebooks III./.PROCEDURE STUDENTS AND TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES Content ACTIVITY 1 (WARM-UP) (5’) a. Aim: Set the scene, lead students to the main part of the period. b. Content: Active words and structures c. Outcome: Ss’ understanding, ability of using the words and structures d. Organization: - T checks two Ss . - Ss give the answer on the board. - T corrects and gives marks. * Answer: 1) a) not to talk b) listening c)have not seen. 2) a) have they b) did she c) does he - T uses the picture in textbook to introduce new lesson. - T says “ As we know , the Internet has been a very important form of media in our modern life. However, we mat not know all its benefits. In today’s lesson, we will study the benefits and the disadvantages of the Internet” WARM UP 1) Supply the correct tense ( 6m) a. He asked me ( not talk) that with his mother. b. My grandma likes ( listen to ) radio in the evening. c. I ( not see ) him for a long time. 2) Use tag – question ( 3m) a) They haven’t done the housework yet, …… ? b) Miss Lien didn’t cook dinner yesterday,……… ? c) He doesn’t make a call, ………….. ? 2. ACTIVITY 2: PRESENTATION (15’) a. Aim: Reading and discussing b. Content: Benefits of the Internet c. Outcome: discuss the benefits of the Internet d. Organization: 2. Pre- writing - Gives ss the examples - Asks them to ask and answer in pairs Example exchange A: Which is your favorite activity in your free time? B: Watching TV A: How many hours a week / a day do you spend watching TV? B: About 4 or 5 hours, I guess - Gets ss to read the text on P43- 44 again - Asks them to make a list of benefits of the Internet again - Has them discuss the benefits of the Internet in group of 5 then write on a poster - T hangs on some poster and corrects Reading and discussing Benefits of the Internet - The Internet as a source of information (news, weather forecast, weather, city maps,...) - The Internet as a source of entertainment (music, movies, games, novels...) - The Internet as a means of education (online school, online lessons, self study) - Easy to get information - Communicate with friends/ relatives... (Email, chatting, web cam) - Order tickets, goods, trip, hotels... 3. ACTIVITY 3: PRACTICE (20’) a. Aim: Helps students to speak and listen, understand the tasks, know about Benefits of the Internet b. Content: the benefits of the Internet c. Outcome: to write a passage about the benefits of the Internet d. Organization: - Gets ss to use the ideas they've just discussed and the cues on p 44 to write a passage about the benefits of the Internet - Monitors and helps ss - Calls on some ss to read their passages before the class - Gives feedback and corrects Writing - Give suggested passage (extra-board) The internet has widely developed recently and it has three mains benefits. Firstly, the Internet is a plentiful and reliable source of information. We can get information such as : news articles, and weather forecasts very fast and conveniently. Secondly, the Internet is a very good way to entertain. We can listen to music, watch videos, play games online.Besides, we can chat with friends and relatives who live far away.it is a very cheap means of communication. Lastly, The internet provides a rich sources of educational materials and convenient way to study.We can do online exercises and take on-line test. We don’t need to go to school but we still can complete the educational programs. Inconclusion the internet brings us a lots of benifits which make our life more modern and convenient 4. ACTIVITY 4: APPLICATION (5’) a. Aim: Stundents apply the knowledge they learnt in practice b. Content: Discussion about Disadvantages of the Internet c. Outcome: students’s talks d. Organization: - Asks ss to discuss the disadvantages of the Internet in group of 5 - Calls some leaders to present IV- Discussion * Disadvantages of the Internet + Time- consuming + Costly + Viruses + Bad programs + Spam / electronic junk mail + Personal information leaking + ... OBJECTIVES 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to review, use Past Simple, Present Perfect Tenses, Past Simple with Wish and Passive voice . *Vocabulary + Structure: Unit 1-3: Past Simple, Present Perfect Tenses, Past Simple with Wish and Passive voice, Preposition of time, Adverb clauses of result. 2. Past Simple tense:(9’) S + was / were + O S + V-ed / V2 + O Adv: yesterday, last week, last Sunday, ago, in 2007..... *Ex 1: Ask Ss to look at the dialogue in the book ( P 11) and guide: The dialogue between 2 Ss talk about things which Ba did last week. Work in pair then make the similar dialogues about Nga, Lan Hoa Ex 2: Use the Past form of the verbs: 2.The past simple with wish.6’ a.Modal could/ would with “ wish” : động từ tình thái could/ would dùng wish Subject + wish +( that ) + subject + could/ would + verb ( without to) Vd: I wish ( that) I could swim. Tôi ước tôi biết bơi (thật sự bây giờ tôi không biết bơi) I wish you would stop smoking. Tôi ước bạn sẽ bỏ thuốc lá b.Past simple tense with wish Định dạng: Subject + wish + (that) + subject + verb ( V-ed/ V2) Chú ý: Subject + wish + ( that ) + …..= If only + ( that )+…… Đối với động từ to be, thì were được dùng cho tất cả các ngôi Vd: I wish I could speak French now = If only I could speak french now. I wish I didn’t have to do this job = If only I didn’t have to do this job. c.Áp dụng: chúng ta dùng wish với động từ ở quá khứ đơn để nói rằng chúng ta tiếc nuối một điều gì đó hoặc điều gì đó xảy ra không như chúng ta mong muốn đồng thời cũng được dùng để diễn tả ao ước ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai. 3.Passive voice: 6’ Subject + be + past participle + by + agent This house was built by my grandfather a/ Simple present tense ( A ) S + V1 /V -es /s + O (P ) S + is /am are + p.p by + O b/ Simple past tense : (A ) S + V-ed /V2 + O + ( M ) (P ) S +was /were + p.p + ( M ) + by + O c / Modal verbs : Will / shall /can / could /must/ should /may / might / have to / used to / be going to (A ) S + Modal verb + V1 + O + (M ) (P ) S + Modal verb +be +p.p + ( M ) + by + O d / Present perfect tense : ( A ) S + have /has +p.p + O + ( M ) ( P ) S + have / has + been + p.p + (M ) + by + O 4.Preposition of time: 6’ - at ( lúc, vào lúc) dùng cho thời gian trong ngày và vào những ngày lễ vd: at 5 o’clock, at 11:45, at midnight, at Christmas - on ( vào) dùng cho ngày, ngày tháng, ngày tháng năm và các ngày cụ thể vd: on Wednesday, on 15 April, on 20 July 1992, on Christmas day , on Friday morning, on my birthday - in ( trong, vào): dùng cho tháng năm mùa thế kỷ và các buổi trong ngày ( ngoại trừ at night) - after: sau, sau khi shortly after six ( sau sáu giwof một chút) after lunch half after seven in the morning( nữa tiếng sau bảy giờ vào buổi sang) I’ll see you after the meeting - before: trước, trước khi before lunch two days before Christmas the day before yesterday She regularly goes for a run before breakfast - between: giữa hai khoảng thời gian Lưu ý:- không dùng các giới từ in, on, at trước every, last, next, this, tomorrow, yesterday… - các giới từ chỉ thời gian: about, by, during, for, from, since, till, until, to,.. - for: trong khoảng thời gian - since: từ, từ khi, - till/ until: đến, cho đến khi - up to: đến, cho đến 5.Adverb clauses of result.6’ so / therefore + clause Ex: Ba went to bed early because he was tired.  Ba was tired, so he went to bed early.= Ba was tired; therefore, he went to bed early. 6.
