Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand the new language; complete the table; get further information about celebrations in Vietnam and in the world. 2. Competencies: Co-operation, self-study. 3. Quality: Love family and country, willing to participate in social activities, live humanty, cooperate with people around,… Ss are proud of national celebrations. B.Teaching aids : 1. Teacher: drawn pictures, pictures, cassette, subboard, CD. 2. Students: Book, notebook C. Procedure: 1. Activity 1: Warm - up a. Aims: Lead in the new lesson and make ss be interested in the new lesson b. Contents: some questions, picture c.Outcome: students' answers d.Organization: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities * Check- up (5ms) Greetings Who is absent today? What is the date today? * Lead in - Give a picture of Ong Do ? Who is he ? When do you often see him ? Do you have a happy At Mui Tet ? What did you do at Tet Tet is the most important festival in Viet Nam. There are many celebrations in Viet Nam and all over the world. Now come to board and write the celebrations. * Getting started : - Give Ss six pictures in Getting started and then ask Ss to guess the names of the pictures. - Ask Ss to look the picture are the books and then have they read the names of the celebrations. - Give Ss the corrects answers. - Ask Ss which celebrations they like best Answer: 1. Easter 2. Wedding 3. Birthday 4. Christmas 5. Mid-Fall Festival 6. Activity 2: Presentation (15’) a.Aims: help ss to memorize some new words and recognize relative clauses b.Contents: new words, relative clause models c.Outcome: read and write new words, know some relative pronouns and recognize relative clauses d.Organization: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities II. Presentation * Set the scene: You’re going to listen to 3 celebrations - Ask Ss to think and guess what they are. - Get feedback from Ss - Ask Ss to listen to the cassette (books closed); ask them to find out the celebrations mentioned in the text. - Ask Ss to give the answers. - Get Ss to listen to the cassette (books opened) - Then have them find out the words or phrases which are concerned with celebrations. *Vocabulary 1. Celebration (n)/ To celebrate (v) : chúc mừng, lễ hội 2. To occur (v)/ occurrence (n) : xảy ra 3. Jewish (a)/ Jew (n) = Jewish people : người Do thái 4.Freedom (n)/free (v)/ free (n) : sự tự do 5. Slavery (n) (antonym) : sự nô lệ 6. The aims of the lesson 1. Knowledge By the end of the lesson, students will be able to give and respond to compliments. *Vocabulary: - Vocabulary: - active, activist, nominate ( v ), nomination, charity ( n ) *Language: compliments. 2. Skills: Listening, reading 3. Attitude: Help ss to have good consciousness in order to give and respond to compliments. B. Preparations 1.Teacher: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster, CD, Computer, projector, loudspeaker 2. Students: Unit 8 Speak C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: What and Where, Word - cue drill, Making dialogues. D. Procedure : I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Steps/ Activities Content II. Word - cue drill: - Have students practice giving and responding the compliments. - Have students work in pairs then closed pairs. 2. Making dialogues: - Ask students to work in pairs, to read the situation on page 66, 67 the give and respond to compliments. - Give feedback. - Call on some pairs of students to act out. Step 3 : Post Speaking : - Divide the class into 4 teams: A, B, C, D. - Have students work in groups to think of situations n which they can give compliments. - Ask team A to give the situation, team B, C, D to make up the dialogue. - Have the teams take turns giving the situations. - Give good marks for the teams which give good situations and make up suitable dialogue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV.
