Objectives: 1. Knowledge and skills: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to write a book review 2. Competencies: - Students are able to use the knowledge to complete the exercises, practice language aspects in communicative situations - They will know how to write a book review and share with partners. - They will work in pairs to develop communication and collaboration, creativity and problem-solving 3. Qualities: - They are active to broaden and percept the knowledge - They will develop the love for reading book. II. Teaching aids: - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, ISB software, projector/interactive whiteboard/TV. - Students’ aids: Student’s books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Why do like reading book? Can you name some types of books? B. Activity 2: Writing a) Objective - To know more about Ss’ favorite book. b) Content: - Ask and answer about favorite book. - Write a paragraph about hometown c) Products: Ss write book reviews successfully d) Organization of the activity: Pre writing - T demonstrates the activity - Ss listen - T has Ss ask and answer the questions - Ss practice in pairs - T has Ss share their ideas with the class. - Ss do as requested - T has Ss read the writing tip. - Ss read - T notes some important things before writing. - Ss listen While- writing - T has SS use the answers in task a and read through the reading text to help them know how to write book reviews. - Ss do as requested (individually) - T controls and offers help if necessary. Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: - practice listening and reading, wring and speaking about the school subjects and activities. - review some vocabulary and grammar points they have learnt. 1. Knowledge and skills : - Vocabulary: discover (v), secret (a), become (v), take care of (v), friendship (n)… - Grammar : and/ or ; mine/yours ; like + Ving ; is/are - Skills : Listening, reading, writing and speaking 2. Competencies: - Students are able to use the knowledge to complete the exercise, practice language aspects in communicative situation. - They will raise their motivations and interests in learning English as a foreign language - They will also develop communicative and team-working skills through learning activities and illustrate problem-solving and critical-thinking skills through learning activities 3. (p. 22): New words + Listening I. Objectives: 1. Knowledge and skills: By the end of this lesson, students will gain the following:  Vocabulary: (n): glasses; summer camp (adj): slim; blond; stripped  Structure : the present simple and present continuous tenses and conversation skills – “See you soon” and “Talk to you later”  Students can use the language to describe someone’s personal appearance. 2. Competencies: - Students can use the knowledge to complete the exercises, practice the language aspects in communicative situations. - They will raise motivations and interests in learning English as a foreign language - They work in pairs, groups to develop communicative and team-working skills through learning activities. - They will develop the competences such as self - control, independent- learning, creativity and problem-solving. 3. Qualities: - Students are active to broaden and percept the knowledge - Students will build their love for their friends and classmates. - They will have the good attitude to working in groups, individual work, pair work, cooperative learning. II. Activity 2: New words a) Objective: Students can identify, understand the situation and language materials (new vocabulary items). Students can also develop their critical thinking skills (guessing/ reasoning). b) Content: - Learn and use language materials (Section: New words page 22). - Describe yourself using the new words. c) Products: Students know how to pronounce the new words correctly and use them in appropriate situations d) Competences: Collaboration, communication, critical thinking e) Organization of the activity: Presentation - T uses real things and pictures to introduce new words - Ss observe and give the meaning of words - T guides Ss to read the new words chorally and then individually. - Ss repeat the new words - T corrects the pronunciation mistakes if necessary. + Checking vocab: ROR - T has Ss play the game “ Rub out and Remember” - Ss play the game. Practice - T has Ss work in pairs, fill in the table, use the words given. Activity 2: Listening a) Objective: Ss can make questions or answer the questions to develop a conversation, and they can aslo finish the listening task in the textbook. b) Content: Listening to a girl trying to find her friend at a summer camp. c) Products: Ss can see how the language learnt to be used in real context and listen for specific information. d) Competence: Collaboration, critical thinking, analytical skill, communication, presentation. e) Organization of the activity: Pre listening - T shows the picture of Mary and Jane, asks students some questions about it. (exercise a/p. 22) Suggested Q&A: - How tall are they? - Do they wear glasses? - What do they look like? - Ss listen and answer - T leads to the task. While listening - T has Ss listen to the dialogue about a girl trying to find her friend at summer camp, then tick the person she is looking for.
