Knowledge + The aims: Talk about places with “ Where....” and give the places Introduce prepositions of place in order to descibe the places - Vocabulary: review preposition of places: in, at……….. - Structure: Where…….? it’s……. 2. Skills: Listening, reading, speaking and writing. 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice ask and answer the way B. Preparations 1.Teacher: computer, speaker, projector, text book, cards for word cue drill, poster 2. Students: Unit 8 A3 C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Brainstorm, Dialouge build, Map Cue Drill, Listen and write. D. Procedure: I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 7A Teacher's activities SS'activities II. WARM UP (5 minutes) Brainstorm : - Ask ss to think about the prepositions they have learnt in 30 seconds. - Divide the class into 2 groups - Ss each group take it in turns go to the board and write the prepositions of places Answers Opposite In front of Behind Between To the left/ to the right… in front of ... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. NEW LESSON Step 1 : Presentation(12ms): Dialouge build - Set the scence: Mr John has just come to Ha Noi on his business. He wants to find a bank to get some money. Mrs Mai helps him. - T writes some key words on the board while sts practising speaking. - Let ss practice in pairs. - Ask some ss to write the missing words on the board. - Ask ss to find out the model sentences. Step 2 : Practice(17ms): Map Cue Drill : (A3 on page 81) - Ask ss to run through the places on the map. - T models - sts repeat. - open/ closed pairs. Eg: Where is the bank? It's between the hotel and the restaurant. opposite the hospital. Step 3 : Further Practice(7ms): Listen and write - Ss look at the street map again , listen to the tape and write the places. - Let sts listen twice. - Give feedback and correct. - Ask sts to ask and give directions to the places they have written. IV. SUMMARY (1 minute) - “Where....” questions . - Prepositions of places. V. HOMEWORK (2 minutes) - Language Focus 3 : 2 (P.96) Write the location of each store. - Prepare the new lesson A4-5 team work on practise speaking. practice in pairs. write the missing words on the board. find out the model sentences. Model sentences : Mr John : Good morning, Mrs Mai. Can you help me? Mrs Mai : Yes, certainly Mr John : I’m looking at this map. But I’m not sure.Where’s the bank? Mrs Mai : Let me see. The bank is between the hotel and the restaurant. It’s opposite the hospital. Mr John : Oh, I see. Thank you Mrs Mai : You’re welcome * Where is the bank? Skills: Listening, reading, speaking and writing. 3. Attitude: Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice listening in asking and telling the price. B. Preparations 1.Teacher: computer, speaker, projector, text book, cards for word cue drill, poster 2. Students: Unit 8 B1 C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work, group work - Some techniques can be used: Quiz- game, True- False Prediction, Lucky numbers, Transformation Writing. D. Procedure: I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 7A Teacher's activities SS'activities II. WARM UP (4 minutes) Quiz- game - How far is it from Hanoi to Vinh ? - It’s about 319kms - Divide the class into 2 groups - Teacher gives question. NEW LESSON Step 1 : Pre Listening(12minutes): 1. Checking the prediction - Teacher plays the tape. - Ss listen and check their prediction. - T gives feedback and corrects. 2. Lucky numbers ( Comprehension Questions) - Divide the class into 2 groups - Use the comprehension questions ( a-> d ) and add 2 more questions 1. Where is your nearest post office ? 2. Lucky number! 3. Where will Liz mail her letter ? 4. How much is the letter to the USA ? 5. How much are the envelopes Liz need ? 6. Lucky number! 7. How much does Liz pay together ? 8. How much change does Liz receive ? - Let Ss play the game . - Praise the winners. Step 3 : Post Listening (8minutes): Transformation Writing: - Teacher gives the questions on the board. - Ask them to answer the questions. - Ss write the text , using the suggested questions. - T. goes round and help ss. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. The envelopes and the stamps are 11,500 dong. - read Answer key : 1- F; 2- T; 3- F; 4- F; 5- T Answer the questions Answer key : 3. Liz will mail her letter to USA. 4. They are 9,500 dong. 5. That is 2.000 dong. 7. She pays 11,500dong altogether 8. She receives 3.500 dong. Writing : Poster: 1. How far is it from your house to the nearest post office? 2. How can you get there ? 3. What can you buy there ? 4. How much is it to mail a letter in Viet Nam ? 5. What else can you do at the post office ? Key: My nearest post office is about 500 meters from my house. I can get there by bike. There I can buy envelopes , postcards. A letter in Vietnam costs 1200 dong. I can make a phone call, too. Skills: Listening, reading, speaking and writing. 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to get futher practice in “ need/ would like” and post office vocabulary B. Preparations 1.Teacher: computer, speaker, projector, text book, cards for word cue drill, poster 2. Students: Unit 8 B3 C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work, group work - Some techniques can be used: Shark attack, Comprehension questions, Gap –fill, Mapped dialogue. D. NEW LESSON Step 1 : Pre Reading(10ms) : 1. Open- prediction - Set the scence: Hoa is at the post office. You have to guess 3 things that Hoa wants to buy. - Have Ss predict things Hoa wants from the post office. - Ss write in the notebooks. - Teacher gets some ideas and writes on the board. Step 2 : While Reading(17ms): 1. Checking the prediction - Ask Ss to read B3. P84 and check their prediction - Give feedback 3. Gap –fill (B3.P84 ) - Ask ss to read the dialouge B3 on page 84 - Get ss to complete the dialouge beyween Hoa and the clerk at the post office - Call on some pairs of students to demontrate the dialogue before class - Give feedback and correct - Ask the whole class to work in pairs Step 3 : Post Reading(10ms) : Mapped dialogue - Use the cues, symbols , visuals...to elicit the dialogue from the students. - Get ss to practice sentences by sentences. - Call on some pairs of sudents to demonstrate the dialogue before the class. -Ask the whole class to work in pairs. Example exchange S1 : I’d like some envelopes and some postcards S2 : Here you are. Is that all ? S1 : I need to send this letter to the USA . How much is it ? S2 : It’s 9,500 dong S1 : And I need a 30,000 dong phone card. How much is that altogether ? S2 : That’s 45,000 dong S1 : Thank you.
