Knowledge + The aims: - Read the letter Hoa sent to her parents about routine and hygien, complete the letter and know how to write a reply letter. - By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to write a letter to reply and talk about routine and hygiene. - Vocabulary: wash, iron, show, take care of - Structure: Present simple tense. 2. Skills: Listening, reading, speaking and writing. 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice writing and doing some exercises. B. Preparations 1.Teacher: computer, speaker, projector, text book, cards for word cue drill, poster 2. Students: Unit 10 A4 C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Asking and answering, Re- call, Gap – fill, Transformation writing D. Procedure: I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 7A Teacher's activities SS' activities II. WARM UP (4 minutes) Chatting - Teacher asks Ss to tell what they did yesterday. What did you do yesterday ? III. NEW LESSON Step 1 : Pre Writing (13ms): 1. Re- call - Ask ss to talk about Hoa’s Mom letter by writing the questions on the board - Divide the class into 2 groups . Ss from each group go to the board and write the answers for the questions . Answer key : 1. Yes, she did. 2. Yes, she will . 3. Yes, she can . 4. Yes, she does . 5. No, she doesn’t. 6. Yes, she will . 2. Gap – fill - T asks some questions. a) Is the letter completed? ( No). b) How many blanks are there? (12). c) What do you have to do now? ( fill the words in to the blanks). - Ask Ss to work in pairs to complete the letter (A4.P1) . - Ask dd compare with each other. - Ask some pairs to give their answers. - Give feedback. Step 2 : While Writing(17ms): - SS work in group of 4 write the complete letter on posters. Step 3 : Post Writing: 1) Transformation writing - Have Ss write a reply letter to their pen pals, telling what they do everyday . Ss may change suitable activities in Hoa’s letter . - Let Ss 10 minutes to write. - Teacher goes round the class and takes notes the common mistakes. 2) Sharing and comparing - Ss swap their writings among the table . Find the mistakes and correct to each other. - Ask some good Ss to read aloud their letters for feedback. - Teacher writes common mistakes on the board to correct. IV. SUMMARY (1 minute) - Writing a letter to reply and talk about routine and hygiene. EX: 3. (P 90 EX book E 7): Complete the sentences with the posỉtive and negative forms of the verb. a. We didn’t brush our teeth before breakfast. We brushed our teeth after breakfast b. I didn’t do the washing last week. I dịd the washing yesterday. c. We don’t / didn’t have a shower every day. We have / had a shower every 3 days. d. They didn’t retum home late last night. They retumed home early last night. e. Hoa didn’t live in Ha Noi last year. She lived in Hue. f. Mr. Ha doesn’t teach / didn’t teach Geography. He teaches / taught English. g. Liz didn’t eat fĩsh. She ate noodles instead. h. My mother doesn’t iron / didn’t iron my clothes. I iron / ironed my clothes myself. V. HOMEWORK (2 minutes) Exercises in the workbook. Prepare: Unit 10 B1 - Ss answer the question. Posster : 1) Did Hoa get a letter from her Mom ? 2) Will her Mom visit her after the harvest ? 3) Can Hoa take care of herself ? 4) Does she get up early every morning ? 5) Does she go to bed late ? 6) Will she write to her Mom soon ? fill the words in to the blanks. Knowledge + The aims: - Know more vocabulary about toothache, dentist's surgery and toothache feeling. - By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to understand the dialogue about a visit to the dentist - Vocabulary: + Nouns: a toothache, dentist, an appointment, sound, the drill, a cavity, uniform, advice + Adjectives: scared, loud, kind + Adverbs: afterwards, less, regularly, sensibly + Verbs: to look after, to fix, to fill the cavity, to hate, to hurt, to remind, to explain - structure: The past simple tense. 2. Skills: Listening, reading, speaking and writing. 3. Attitude: - Sts will have attitude to take care of their teeth well. B. Preparations 1.Teacher: computer, speaker, projector, text book, cards for word cue drill, poster 2. Students: Unit 10 B1 C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Hangman, T/F Prediction, Matching, Comprehension questions, Find someone who... D. WARM UP (5 minutes) Hangman - Ask ss to guess each letter of the following words - Ss play in two teams _ _ _ _ _ ( tooth) _ _ _ _ _ ( worry ) _ _ _ _ _ _ ( matter ) III. NEW LESSON Step 1 : Pre Reading (12ms): 1. Vocabulary : ( picture) ( trans) ( trans) ( mime) . Checking : Rub out and remember 2. T/F Prediction - Set the scene : Minh and Hoa are talking about toothache. - Teacher sticks the poster on the board . Ask Ss predict T of F. - Collect Ss’ ideas and write on the board. Step 2 : While Reading(17ms): Activity 1 : Checking prediction - Ss read the dialogue B1.P103 and correct their predictions. - Give feedback Activity 2: Matching - Ask ss run through the two columns. - Ask ss to work individual to read the dialogue again to match the English words with the Vietnamese meaning. - Ask ss t compare with eacother. - T ask some ss to go to the board to match the words. - Teacher corrects. - Ss copy down. Activity 3: Comprehension questions - Ss work in pairs, ask and answer the questions Step 3 : Post Reading(7ms): Find someone who... - Teacher draws the table on the board . Ss copy down. - Teacher gives instructions. - Teacher models : T : Do you have a toothache ? S1 : Yes, I do T : What’s your name ? S1 : I’m Nam - SS go round the class asking and writing. Give feedback: Ss read out their table. IV. SUMMARY (1 minute) Reading a dialogue to understand about the visit to the dentist V. HOMEWORK (2 minutes) Write it up : (Using the information from Find someone who...) Eg : Nam has a toothache. Hoa likes going to the dentist. - Prepare the next lesson: B2 . Knowledge + The aims: - Listen and read about Dr Lai's job. - By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to listen for details about Dr Lai’s job and use the present simple tense. - Vocabulary: to remind, to explain, surgery, serious, to smile at, healthy, to notice - structure: Try not to forget, brushing teeth is very important. 2. Skills: Listening, reading, speaking and writing. 3. Attitude: - Sts will have attitude to take care of their teeth well. B. Preparations 1.Teacher: computer, speaker, projector, text book, cards for word cue drill, poster 2. Students: Unit 10 B2 C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Open – prediction, Pre- questions, Answer given, Recall. D. Procedure: I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 7A Teacher's activities SS' activities II. WARM UP Chatting 2’ Do you have any toothaches? How do you feel when you come to see a doctor? III. NEW LESSON (39 minutes) Step 1 : Pre Listening 1. Vocabulary : (explaination) Sts : - listen. - listen and repeat (chorally then individually). - copy. Checking : Rub out and remember 2. Open – prediction - Ss predict the answers for the questions B2 a-> d Step 2 : While Listening Teacher plays the tape twice . - Ss listen and check their predictions. - Give feedback and correct. Key : a) Dr. Lai is a dentist b) She wear a set of uniform while she was working. c) Most children feel scared when they come to see Dr. Lai. d) She explains what will happen. She gives them advice. She tells them how to look after their teeth and she reminds them to clean their teeth regularly and eat sensibly. Step 3 Post listening. Gap fill clean washes dentist after scared eat Dr. Lai is a (1) … at Quang Trung school. She looks (2) … all the students’ teeth. Dr Lai’s office is (3) … and so is her uniform.
