OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to… 1. Knowledge - talk about things they need for a trip; 2. Competences - improve speaking skill and read for specific information; - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study, to solve problems and other skills 3. Quality - have a positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially about the topic “The world around us”. II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS Lesson plan, PPT slides, Student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/ TV, speakers, DCR & DHA on Eduhome, CD player, handouts… III. PROCEDURE A. Activity 1: Warm up (5’) a) Objective: To help Sts relax, checkup and interest the topic of the lesson. b) Content: Chatting c) Product: Sts can make arrangements for a class trip. d) Competence: Collaboration, critical thinking, communication. e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents - T asks Ss to give some things which they often need for a trip from the students. - Ss work individually to give the answers - T collects the answers from Ss - T leads to the new lesson * Possible answers: camera, ball, food, drinks, tents, umbrellas, compass, backpack, sun cream, walking boots, painkillers, ... B. Activity 2: New words (15’) a) Objective: To get Sts learn some new words relating to the topic. b) Content: - Filling in the blanks - Listen and repeat c) Product: Sts can acquire new vocabulary and use them to talk about what they need for a trip. d) Competence: Communication, collaboration, presentation, creativity e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents Presentation T presents some new words - Ss give the meanings of words - T guides Ss to read the words - Ss repeat in chorally and then individually - T holds the game “ What and Where” - Ss join the game. Practice - T asks Ss to fill in the blanks. - Ss work individually - T has Ss give the answers - Ss give the answers - T gives feedback and corrects. - T plays the audio (CD2/33) - Ss listen and repeat. Activity 3: Reading (20’) a) Objective: To read for specific information b) Content: - Reading the messages - Circling the things on the list - Answering the questions c) Product: Sts can read and understand the messages. d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, critical thinking, analytical and synthesizing skills. e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents Pre - reading: - T sets the scene of the task (two friends are messaging about their camping trip. Circle the things on the list they need to bring) (a/p. 65) - Ss listen - T gets Ss explore the heading/ picture. - Ss do as requested - T gets Ss look at the messages and the list. - Ss look at the message * While - reading: - T has Ss read the message and the list - Ss work individually. - T has Ss circle the things on the list. - Ss answer the questions individually. - T asks Ss to give the answer - Ss give the answer - T gives feedback and corrects the answer. - T lets Ss look at the questions. - Ss look at the questions - T has Ss read the message again and answer the questions. - Ss answer the questions - T gets Ss to give answers - Ss give the answer - T gives feedback and corrects the answers as a whole class. * Post – reading - T has students work in groups; each group gets a different task, then completes the task. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to… 1. Knowledge - use "so" to show a result of something; - grammar: compound sentences with "so"; 2. Competences - improve the use of language - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study and other skills 3. Quality - have a positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially with the topic “The world around us”. II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS Lesson plan, PPT slides, Student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/ TV, speakers, DCR & DHA on Eduhome, CD player, handouts… III. PROCEDURE A. Activity 1: Warm up (5’) a) Objective: To help Sts relax and make students feel motivated. b) Content: Chatting c) Product: Sts can review the language presented earlier d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, guessing/ critical thinking e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents BINGO (Teacher - whole class) - Ask each S to take a small piece of paper. - Prepare a list of words: battery, bottled water flashlight, pillow, towel, sleeping bag, tent, camera, ball, ... - Call out each word, have Ss cross each word called (The first person crossing out all 5 words shouts" Bingo" and wins the games) - Let them choose and write down 5 words on their papers. - Listen to the teacher carefully and cross each word called Activity 2: Grammar (8’) a) Objective: To help Sts know the use of the conjunction " so". b) Content: Listening and repeating c) Product: Sts can understand the conjunction "so" to show a result of something. d) Competence: Communication, collaboration e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents * Presentation: - T sets the scene and has Ss look at the picture. - T plays the audio. (CD2 – 34) - Ss listen - T has Ss practice the dialogue - Ss practice in pairs - T explains the language focus - conjunction "so". - Ss listen and take notes - T gets Ss to give some examples - Ss do as requested. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to… 1. Knowledge - pronounce the /ou/ sound correctly - preparing for an overnight adventure 2. Competences - improve pronunciation, speaking skill - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, and other skills 3. Quality - Ss have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially with the topic “The world around us" II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS. Lesson plan, PPT slides, Student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/ TV, speakers, DCR & DHA on Eduhome, CD player, handouts… III. Activity 2: Pronunciation (5’) a) Objective: To pronounce the /ou/ sound correctly b) Content: Pronunciation on page 67 c) Products: Sts can pronounce the /ou/ sound correctly. d) Competence: Communication, collaboration, listening e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents Presentation - T briefly explains the focused sound feature. - Ss listen - T plays the audio (CD2 - 35) and draws students' attention to the focus sound. - Ss listen and pay attention to the focus sound /ou/. - T plays the audio (CD2 - 35) again - Ss listen and focus on the sound Practice - T plays the audio again. - Ss listen and repeat. - T corrects the pronunciation mistakes - T has Ss practice saying the words with a partner. - Ss read as directed - T gives feedback. Activity 3: Practice (10’) a) Objective: To discuss plans for a trip and talk about things they need for a trip. b) Content: Practice on page 67 c) Products: plans for a trip, things for a trip. d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents - T demonstrates the conversation by practicing the role - play with a student. - St practices the conversation with the T. - T has Ss practice the conversation. - Ss work in pairs, swap roles and repeat using the ideas/ cues given on the right. - T calls on some pairs to demonstrate the conversation. - Ss practice in front of the class. (Production - free practice) - T gets students to practice the conversation with their own ideas. - Ss practice in pairs - T has Ss demonstrate their own conversation. - Ss practice - T corrects and give feedback. a. Activity 4: Speaking - Preparing for an Overnight Adventure (15’) a) Objective: To prepare for a camping trip and ask for confirmation. b) Content: Speaking on page 67 c) Products: Sts can use the target language learnt previously in communication d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, creativity, problem-solving e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents Pre speaking: - Teacher sets the scene of the dialogue (make plan for a camping trip to Cat Tien National Park) - Ss listen - T demonstrates the task by practicing the role play with a student. - St practices with the T While speaking - T gets Ss to work in groups, make their own plan for what to bring along. - Ss work in groups to choose five items for camping trip and give reasons to choose. - Groups show the result in front of the class. - T asks Ss to compare the result among groups. - Ss compare the answers - T checks and gives feedback. Post speaking - T gets Ss to join another pair and compare their lists. - Ss do as requested - T asks Ss to demonstrate the activity. - Ss present - T corrects and gives feedback. a.You're preparing for a camping trip to Cat Tien National Park. Work in pairs. Look at the list and choose the five most important items to bring with you and given reasons why.
