The aims By the end of the lesson, ss will have a good chance to review: - Connectives - Phrasal verbs - Make suggestions 2. Skills : + Speaking and writing skills 3. Knowleges: + Standard: Complete the sentences using the connnectives Complete the sentences using the right tense form of the phrasal verbs in the box Make suggestions using the ideas + Higher : Write sentences using the connectives 4. Language contents: a.Vocabulary: go on, look after, look for, shortage, decade, invalid. b.Structures : Connectives, phrasal verbs, make suggestions 2. Skills : 5. Education: Educate ss to learn hard and save energy to protect the environment B. Preparations 1. Teacher: lesson plan, English 9-book, pictures, extra boards 2. Students: review the grammar points and vocabulary, drafting paper b/Vocabulary: revision verbs + prepositions look for ;turn on; want for; depend on; listen to dream about C/ Techniquues: Noughts and crosses, asking and answering, Brainstorming. .D/ Procedures: I.Organization(1’) Class Date of teaching Absent students 9C II. check the old lesson (5’) New words, exercises III.New lesson Teacher’s and Students’ activies: -Ask Ss work in group and review all the ways to save energy which they have learned in unit 7 .Gather ideas from groups and have some final thoughts on ways to save energy -Ask Ss to give some examples to demonstrate the use of the connectives . individual work -Ask students to think of connectives that they've learnt. -Have students go to the board and write down the connectives. Give feedback. -Ask students to give Vietnamese meanings.Have students work individually to do the exercise Language focus 1 on -Tell Ss to do exercise 1. Complete the sentences. Use the correct connectives. -Ask Ss to compare the answers with a friend feedback. Have some students read aloud the completed sentences, check their pronunciation and the meanings. Contents: 1/ Warm up : (10’) Brainstorming. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practice further improving their understanding about connectives, phrasal verbs and suggestions through sentence completion and suggestions making, knowing how to prepare a project. 2. Attitude: Educate students how to save energy. 3. Competencies: Develop the competences of communication, cooperation, using languages, and problem solving. B.Teaching aids : 1. Teacher: Book, notebook, laptop, speaker and projector 2. Students: Book, notebook C. Procedure: 1. Activity 1: Warm up (7') (warm up/ check up/ setting the scene) a. Aims: check ss’ writing b. Activity 2: Presentation a.Aims: help ss to know the meaning and how to use phrasal verbs. b.Contents: presentation and examples c.Outcome: ss make some examples d.Organization: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities * Laguage focus 1. Phrasal verbs (10m) - Ask Ss the meanings of the phrasal verbs through examples: + It is dark here. Can you turn on the light? + Please turn off TV when you finish watching. + It is important to look for a job after graduation. + My sister looks after the pet when I am away. + He goes on talking about himself.  The meanings of the phrasal verbs: - Turn on = switch on / start - Turn off = switch off / stop - Look for = try to find - Look after = take care of - Go on = continue Read the examples Give some more examples Listen and copy Guess the meanings of the phrasal verbs. Listen and copy down. 3. Activity 3: Practice a.Aims: do the exercises about phrasal verbs, making suggestions b.Contents: exercises c.Outcome: ss’s exercises d.Organization: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Phrasal verbs (10’) Exercise 2 : Complete the sentences , using the right tense form of the phrasal verbs in the box and the pictures - Get Ss to compare their answers with a friend. - Correct and necessary mistakes - Give the correct answers : 1. look after 2. go on 3. turn on 4. looked for 5. turn off 2. Making suggestions (10’) - Review some structures to make suggestions Suggest + V- ing… Suggest + that + should + V- infinitive … - Ask Ss to work in pairs to make suggestions, using the ideas in the textbook. - Example: A: What should we do to help poor people in the neighborhood? B : I suggest collecting unused clothes I suggest that we should collect unused clothes and give them to the poor people in the neighborhood - Call on some Ss to read aloud their suggestions Work in group Work in pairs Repeat the use and form of making suggestions.
