Mô tả: Date of preparing: 09/09/2022 Period 4 UNIT 1: HOME Lesson 2.1 (p. 9): New words + Reading I. Objectives: 1. Knowledge and skills: By the end of this lesson, students will gain the following: Vocabulary: laundry, kitchen, dinner, bed, shopping, dish, clean Grammar: Present simple  Students will be able to name housework and say which housework they do at home. 2. Competencies: - Students are able to use the knowledge to complete the exercises, practice language aspects in communicative situations. - Students work in pairs, in groups and individually to develop communication skills and creativity - They also demonstrate teamwork skills 3. Qualities: - They will have responsibility for doing housework - They will develop the love for family II. Teaching aids: - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, IWB software, projector/interactive whiteboard/TV. - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Activity 1: Warm up(5’) a) Objective: - To create a friendly atmosphere in the class before the lesson; - To lead into the unit b) Content: - Review new words about house c) Product: Students can review some words related to house. d) Organization of the activity: - T shows some pictures about housework - Ss observe and listen carefully - T ask Ss if they often do the housework at home. - Ss answer the questions Do you help your mom at home? Do you often do the housework? B. Activity 2: New words(10’) a) Objective: - To identify, understand the situation and language materials (new vocabulary items). b) Content: - Learn and use language materials (Section: New words page 9). c) Products: Students know how to pronounce the new words correctly and use them in appropriate situations - Students can say what housework they do at home d) Organization of the activity: Presentation - T introduces the new words by using pictures and some other techniques (mine, real objects…) - Ss observe and listen - T has Ss repeat each new word. (chorally – individually) - Ss repeat the new words - T corrects S’s pronunciation if necessary. - T lets Ss fill in the blanks. (exercise a/p. 9) - Ss works in pairs and check their answers with their partners. - T checks the answers as a whole class. - T plays the recording - Ss listen and repeat all the words Discussion - T has Ss practice asking and answering if they do the housework at home. - Ss work in pairs - T has Ss share their ideas. - T elicits answers and write them on the board. Activity 3: Reading(25’) a) Objective: - To understand the text about Ken’s blog post and choose the correct options to answer the questions. b) Content: - To read Ken’s blog post and circle the correct answers c) Products: Students understand the text and choose the correct options to answer the questions. d) Organization of the activity: Pre reading Guessing game - T shows a picture of Ken’s blog. - Ss observe - T asks Ss to guess if Ken does the housework at home. While reading - T gets Ss to read through the blog - Ss read through the blog, check their guess. - T shows a table and asks Ss to check the housework they see in the blog. - Ss do as requested. - T has Ss work in groups, read the blog, and then circle the correct answers. - Ss work in groups of 4 - Ss show their answers on the board. - T checks, corrects or gives feedback. Objectives: 1. Knowledge and skills: By the end of this lesson, students will gain the following: Vocabulary: review ((do the) laundry, clean the kitchen, make dinner, make the bed, do the shopping, do the dishes) Grammar: Present simple – Wh- questions  Students will be able to use Present Simple to talk about family members and housework. 2. Competencies: - Students are able to use the knowledge to complete the exercises, practice language aspects in communicative situations. - They are able to know more about the present simple tense and its usage. - They can demonstrate teamwork skills 3. Qualities: - They are active to broaden and percept the knowledge - They will have responsibility for doing housework - They can build the love for family II. Teaching aids: - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, IWB software, projector/interactive whiteboard/TV. - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Activity 2: New lesson: Grammar(35’) a) Objectives: - To present the present simple tense to Ss - To help Ss do some exercises using the present simple tense b) Content: - Review and introduce the present simple tense. c) Product: Students will understand and apply the structure effectively to do exercises. d) Organization of the activity: Presentation - T has Ss look at the picture - Ss look at the picture - T plays the recording and has Ss listen. - Ss listen and read the speech bubbles. - T has Ss listen again and repeat - T underlines the verbs, introduces and elicits the ways to use present simple tense. - Ss follows teacher, answer T’s questions - T gives some more examples for students to change subject pronouns and the verb forms Practice Task 1: - T has Ss work in pairs; use the verbs given to fill in the blanks in Present Simple tense. - Ss do as requested - T asks some pairs to show their answers. - Ss give the answers - T asks some students to check the answers. - T checks again and gives feedback. Knowledge and skills: By the end of this lesson, students will gain the following: Vocabulary: review ((do the) laundry, clean the kitchen, make dinner, make the bed, do the shopping, do the dishes) Grammar: Present simple with Wh- questions Pronunciation: / ɪ / sound  Students will be able to use Present Simple to talk about family members and housework. 2. Competencies: - Students are able to use the knowledge to complete the exercises, practice language aspects in communicative situations. - They can demonstrate teamwork skills 3. Qualities: - Students are active to broaden and percept the knowledge - Students will build their love for family, homes and classmates and have responsibility for doing housework. - They will have the good attitude to working in groups, individual work, pair work, cooperative learning. I. Teaching aids: - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, ISB software, projector/interactive whiteboard/TV. - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. (kitchen / living room/ dinner/ go shopping/ sister, ...), pay attention to the / ɪ / sound - T has Ss read loudly, then lead to new lesson. What do you see? B. Activity 2: Pronunciation(10’) a) Objectives: - To know how to pronounce and identify the /ɪ/ sound correctly in isolation and in context. - To read the words with the correct sound to a partner. b) Content: - The /ɪ/ sound c) Product: Students can read the words with the correct sound to a partner. d) Organization of the activity: Presentation - T shows examples to class, speaks louder for students to recognize the difference. - Ss listen and pay attention to the sound - T explains the rules, gives more examples to make it clear. - T plays the recording and draws attention to the focus sound. - T has Ss listen and repeat, focus on the underlined letters (b/p. 11) Practice - T plays the recording (CD1 10). - Ss listen and then cross out the option that uses the different pronunciation feature - Ss practice reading the words with the correct sound to partners. - T corrects the mistakes. Activity 3: Practice(15’) a) Objectives: - To practice asking and answering the Wh-question correctly. b) Content: - Ask and answer with Wh-quesstions c) Product: Students can practice asking and answering with their partners. d) Organization of the activity: Ask & answer. - T uses real things and pictures to review the words: (breakfast, lunch, dinner, laundry, dishes, shopping, living room, kitchen) - T asks some students as model. - Ss listen and answer - T has Ss practice in pairs, ask and answer about the family and the housework. - Some pairs present in front of the class - T corrects student’s pronunciation & intonation if necessary. Activity 3: Speaking(7’) a) Objective: - To conduct a survey about housework b) Content: Ask questions, then fill in the survey c) Products: Ss produce the new language successfully d) Organization of the activity: Doing a survey: What housework do your family members do? - T has Ss work in group of four. - Students work in groups of four, take turns talking about the housework their family members do. - After completing the survey, some students volunteer to share in front of the class. - T corrects and gives feedback. - T has Ss discuss who does the most housework in their family - Ss discuss with their partners. - T has some Ss share their findings with the class. You are doing a survey about housework in Teen World Magazine. Work in groups. Fill in the information for yourself, then ask two friends Discussion Who does the most housework in your family? D. Homework(2’) - Teacher guides students to have a look back on the lesson at home, do exercises in workbook and get ready for the next lesson. - Students: + do exercises in workbook + write about the housework you like doing best.
