Mô tả: Date of preparing: 25/10/2019 Period 29 UNIT 5: WORK AND PLAY LESSON 4: B1-2 A.Objectives: - Know the words about the activities at recess - Describe the recess in the pictures or in the school - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to talk about recess activities, using the present progressive tense 1. Skills: - Further practice listening, reading and speaking skill. 2. Basic language: - Vocabulary: bell, recess, blindman’s bluff, catch, marbles, rope, excited, like, go into, indoors, to chat, to play catch / marbles / blindman’s bluff, to skip rope - Structure: Present simple tense and present progressive tense. + Standard knowledge: - Know the words about the activities at recess - Ask and answer about the activities which are happening in the pictures + Advanced knowledge: Describe the recess in their class 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading, speaking nd do exercises using present progressive tense.. B. Preparations 1. Teacher: lesson plan, English 7-book, computer, projectors 2. Students: review the grammar points and vocabulary, English 7-book, C. Techniques: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Brainstorming, Presentation text , Picture Cue Drill , Write it up. D. Procedure: I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 7A 7B Teacher & students’ activities Contents II. Warm up(5’) Brainstorming - Ask ss to think of the activities they do in their recess. - Divide the class in to two teams and ask sts from 2 teams to write the words they know on the board. - T gives feedback III-New lesson Step 1: Presentation (8’) 1. Vocabulary ( translation) ( synonym with speak ) ( explain ) ( picture ) (picture ) (picture ) ( mime ) ( explain ) ( translation ) - Sts listen. - Listen and repeat (chorally then individually). - Copy * Check voc: Slap the board 2. Presentation text (B1. P56 ) - Set the scene: Look at the pictures. The sts are at recess. Read the text to write down the recess activities in the text. - Ask students to go to the board and write , one by one. - Give feedback - Ask sts which activity is the most popular . - Give feedback. (Key : talking). 3. Revision the present progressive tense Form : S + ( am/ is / are ) + V-ing Use : To express an action happening at the moment we are speaking of it. Step 2: Practice (15’) 1. Picture Cue Drill ( 7 ) - Ask Ss to look at the pictures (B1.P56 ). - Ask sts to run through the pictures . - Teacher models - T- whole class => halves => pairs 2. Listening - Set the scene: Mai, Kien, Lan and Ba are at the recess at school. Look at B2 on page 57 and guess and match name to an activity. - Have ss predict in 1 minute. - Give feed back. - Ask sts to listen to the tape twice and check their prediction. - Give feed back Step 3: Further practice (8’) Survey - Ask ss to copy the table in their book. - Run through the activitives and give sts an example . - Ask sts to work in groups of 3 to ask and answer the questions. - Ask sts to give feedback if possible. * Brainstorming Eat Chat 1. Aims: - Know the more words about the activities at school recess - Read and understand the the differences between schools in Viet Nam and in the USA - By the end of the lesson, students will be able read for details about recess activities in an American high school. 2. Practice skill: - Drill reading comprehension skills - Practice asking and answering about the most popular activities at recess. further pracice reading and writing skill. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: - Remember the new words in the lesson - Read the text fluently, understand and do the exercies - Talk about some activities which don’t happen at recess in Viet Nam + Advanced knowledge: Do the survey, ask and answer in groups of 3. Report the result before the class 4. Basic language: - Vocabulary: junior high school, energetic, whole, portable CD player, earphone, mainly, card, common, relax, mostly, worldwide, senior high school. Phrases: to take part in, to practice, to score a goal, to swap baseball cards with. - Structure: Review present simple tense. 5.
