Mô tả: Date of preparing: 11/12/2020 Period 43 UNIT 7: THE WORLD OF WORK LESSON4: B1 A.The aims of the lesson 1.Knowledge -The aims: :- Read a text for details about America’s workers -Understand the new words about the work and the rest of America’s family. - use present simple tense to ask and answer -Basic language: - Vocabulary: take care of,work part- time,play golf, mechanic, machine, shift, homeless Tenses: use present simple tense to talk about activities, body of the letter. + Standard knowledge: Read and understand a text for details about America’s workers + Advanced knowledge:Retell about Tim’s family 2. Skill: - practice the comprehension reading skill,read and answer the qts :a-e. 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice read for detalis. B. Preparations 1. Teacher: lesson plan, English 7-book, computer, projectors 2. Students: review the grammar points and vocabulary, English 7-book, C. Techniques: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Bingo, Ordering, Comprehension questions, Transformation writing. D. Procedure: I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? III-New lesson: 1: Pre - reading (8’) 1. Vocabulary: ( trans) ( explain) ( picture) ( example) ( explain) ( Trans) (person without home) - Sts listen. - listen and repeat (chorally then individually). - copy. Checking voc : Rub out and remember 2. Ordering ( for main ideas ) - Teacher sticks the poster on the board - Set the scence: You will read a letter from Tim Jones. He writes to Hoa to tell her about his family, his parents’ work. Read four main ideas of the letter and guess which is the first, which is the second, the third, the fourth - Ss predict the order of the main ideas in the letter - Teacher gives feedback 2: While - reading (15’) 1. Checking prediction - Ss read B1.P76 to check their prediction - Call on some students to answer the questions - Give feedback 2. Comprehension questions - Get ss to read the letter again and answer the questions on page 77. - Have ss work in pairs and find out the answers . - Call on some pairs to do before class for feedback. 3: Post - reading (8’) Transformation writing - Divide the class into groups of three. - Ask them to rewrite the letter on page 76 , replacing the information about Tim’s family with the information about their own family. - Monitor and help students. - Call on some students to read out their letters for feedback. - T gives feed back and corrects. 1. To compare the work and the rest of the people in the text. -Basic language: - Vocabulary: Pig, the main crop, the buffalo shed, the chicken coop,feed,rest, clean Tenses:comparatives. + Standard knowledge: Read a text for details about a farmer’s work with comparatives and listen for details about jobs. Compare between Mr Tuan And Mr John + Advanced knowledge: To compare the work and the rest of 4 people in B4. 2. Skill: - practice the comprehension reading skill,pronunciation and the information in the text 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice read for detalis. B. Preparations 1. Teacher: lesson plan, English 7-book, computer, projectors 2. Students: review the grammar points and vocabulary, English 7-book, C. Presentation text ( B2P47 ) - Look at the picture. This is Mr Tuan. What is his job? - Get ss to read the text on page 77 and then answer some questions quickly. 3. Completing the grid - Ask ss to copy the grid B3 on page 77 in their notebooks - Ss read Tim's letter and the text about Mr Tuan then fill in the grids with the information from the text. 4. Making comparison - Ask sts to look at the grid and make comparative sentences. - T elicits the model sentences from Ss. - T reads, Ss’repetition : chorus – individual. - T writes the model sentences on the board. * Concept check : - Meaning : Vietnamese meaning. - Form : S2 + V + more / less + N + than + S2 - Usage : Comparative. - Pronunciation : Step 2: Practice Word cues drill - Ask Ss to use the grids to make comparative between Mr Jones and Mr Tuan. - Teacher models . - Ss practice in whole class, individually.
