Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to to understand more about ways of learning English well and know how to attend in an interview 2. Skills: Speaking, listening, reading 3. Attitude: - Positive about learning a forreign language. - Students know how to learn English in right way. 4. Competence and quality: 4.1. Competence: - General capacity:self-learning ability, communication capacity, capacity to use language, cooperation capacity,… - Specilized capacity:English language ability, develop self capacity,.. 4.2. Quality: Love family and country, willing to participate in social activities, live humanty, cooperate with people around,… II./.PREPARATION: 1.Teacher: book, planning, picture, laptop, projector 2.Students: books, notebooks III./.PROCEDURE -Organization(1’) Class Date of planning Absentstudents 9A 9B T’s and Ss’ activities Content ACTIVITY 1 (WARM-UP) (5’) a. Aim: Set the scene, lead students to the main part of the period. b. Content: Active words and structures, network c. Outcome: Ss’ understanding, ability of using the words and structures d. Organization: - Ss work in group, every group gives the ways to learn English well. Which group gives many ways to learn is winner. - Then Ss compare that way with” Getting started” in book. And Ss check the things they do from the list. - T introduces some ways in learning English on the board. - T uses the picture on page 33 to introduce new lesson. 2. ACTIVITY 2: PRESENTATION (15’) a. Aim: Students can memorize some new words b. Content: vocabulary, set the scene, structures c. Outcome: students can read and write the new words d. Organization: - T gives new words on the board. - Ss guess the meaning of the words. - T reads the words twice and Ss repeat. -T checks the words by playing “ What and where ”. + T writes the new words on the board, each word in each circle, asks Ss to repeat the words chorally, and rub out word by word but leave the circles. + T and SS go on all the circles are empty, then T gets Ss to go to the board and write the words in their correct circles - Ss take note. - T explains new grammar. - Ss listen carefully and take note. 3. ACTIVITY 3: PRACTICE (20’) a. Aim: Helps students to speak and listen, understand the tasks b. Content: - answer the questions in the questionaire. c. Outcome: ss can do the task correctly d. Organization: - T says “ Lan is talking to Paola, a foreign student, about the oral examination that that she has just taken . Can you guess which questions the examiner ask Lan ?”. - Ss guess. - T says “Lan is talking to Paola about the oral examination she has had. First , you look at the book and listen to the tape to get the main idea of the conversation.” - Ss listen to the tape twice . - Ss practice the dialogue with a classmate ( about 3 pairs) 4. ACTIVITY 4: APPLICATION (5’) a. Aim: Stundents apply the knowledge they learnt in practice b. Content: Discussion c. Outcome: students’s talks d. Organization: - Ask student to work in pairs to practice asking and answering. One student plays the role of examiner and another plays the role of Lan. - Call on some pairs to demonstrate before the class. One student report the questions - T says “Now you read the conversation again and see what exactly examiner asked Lan. Look at the list of questions and check the boxes “ - Ss work in group. - Then every group gives the answer on the board. - T corrects and checks the guessing . - Ss take note. *Consolidation: ways of learning English well and know how to attend in an interview HOMEWORK: - Learn by heart new words, the structure and the ways to learn English better. - Do exercise: Change into the reported speech. 1) She asked me “ Do you like reading the comic?” 2) They asked him “ Where is your book?” 1. WARM UP : * Network Do homework learn by heart the new words speak English with friends *GETTING STARTED - Play “ Brainstorming” 2. PRESENTATION : * Chatting : - Have you ever had an oral examination in English? If yes, what did teacher ask you ? * New words : - Examiner (n) ( a person who ask questions ( spoken or written to find out how much a person know )gi¸m kh¶o. - Aspect (n) ( translation ): khÝa c¹nh - Written examination (n) ( situation): kì thi viÕt. - Oral examination (n) ( translate): kì thi nãi - Candidate (n) : ( one person takes part in an exam): thí sinh -check vocab by “What and where” *The grammar:The reported speech (c©u trÇn thuËt) 1) Wh- question : S + ASKED + O + WH- QUESTION + V . . . 2) Yes/ No question: S + ASKED + O+ IF/ WHETHER +S +V . . . EX: 1) Na asked Lan “ What does your mother do?”  Na asked Lan what her mother did . 2) She said to me “ Do you like watching TV?”  She asked me if I liked watching TV. * Guessing : Which questions did the examiner ask Lan 3. ACTIVITY 2: PRESENTATION (15’) a. Aim: Students can memorize some new words b. Content: vocabulary, set the scene, structures c. Outcome: students can read and write the new words d. Organization: - T explains new words - Ss guess meaning of new words - T reads new words twice and Ss listen carefully and repeat. - Ss take note - T checks new words by playing“ Slap the board”. -You work in group of three and play a role of these three students to persuade your partner to attends the school you would like to go. - First you study the advertisements of three language school that the three girls plan to study 3. ACTIVITY 3: PRACTICE (20’) a. Aim: Helps students to speak and listen, understand the tasks b. Content: - answer the questions in the questionaire. c. Outcome: ss can do the task correctly d. Organization: - T says “ Now you in group of three, play the role of Thu, Tam and Kim and persuade your partner to attend the school you would like to study. Use the expression in the box as prompts ?” - Ss work in small groups ( 6 groups) - T goes around the class to help Ss - Some group give the dialogue before the class. - T corrects the grammar and pronunciation. - T can give the model dialogue. - Ss take note. 4. ACTIVITY 4: APPLICATION (5’) a. Aim: Stundents apply the knowledge they learnt in practice b. Content: Discussion c. Outcome: students’s talks d. Organization: - After that, Some Ss talk about school which they would like to go. ( about 3 Ss ) HOMEWORK - T gives the homework on the board. - Ss take note. WHILE – SPEAKING : -Thu : Why don’t we study in UK ? The Brighton Language center has excellent reputation. -Kim : I disagree because the course is too expensive. It’s US $ 2,000. -Tam : Why don’t we go to the Seattle School of English in the USA. If we go to there, we can stay with Vietnamese friends. -Kim : I don’t agree because we can’t practice speaking English with native speakers. I think it would be better if we go to Australia because the course is cheap, only US $ 1,200. we can stay with an Australian family to practice speaking English . Beside that it has beautiful scenery and it is quite close to Viet Nam. You agree with me, don’t you? -Thu and Tam : Maybe, Let’s second thought. Suggested talk - Hi, everybody! I’m Thu. It’s my pleasure to tell you about the Brighton Language English center. It’s in the UK. Students who study here can live in dormitory on campus so it’s a good chance to mix up students from different country living in one room. The school has excellent reputation and it’s one of the best language school in the UK HOMEWORK: -Learn new words and model sentences by heart. - Do exercise 6 on pages 31- 32 in ex. book.
