Knowledge + The aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a passage about the benefits of the Internet. *Vocabulary + Structure: the present simple, words talk about the Internet. 2. Skills : - Writing. 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to write a passage about the benefits of the Internet. B. Preparations 1.Teacher : posters, computer, Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, speaker, projector. 2. Students: Unit 5 Write C. Methods: Some techniques can be used: Jumbled words, Exhibition, Discussion D. Procedure : I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? WARM UP (4 minutes) Jumbled words Mnucatoemi / beentif / ewb- urfs/ eourss /erwand / eanm/ tntertainmene - Call on some Ss to read correct words and write on the board : Communicate / benefit / surf-web / source / wander / mean/ entertainment . III. New lesson : Introduce the aims of the lesson . Step1. Pre- writing : (10’) * Making outline : - Ask Ss to read three main cues about the benefits of the Internet . - Work in group of 4 students to find the answers for the five questions below : 1. What can you say about the development of the Internet ? Is the Internet useful ? - increasingly develop / become part of our everyday life - useful in many ways ) 2. Why is the Internet a source of information ? - a fast and convenient way to get information - read electronic newspapers - check weather condition before going . 3. Can you say the Internet as a source of entertainment ? Why ? /Why not ? - communicate with friends or relative - listen music . - watch movies . - play games . - read novels , poems 4. Is the Internet also a means of education ? Give your reasons ? - learn English - look up a dictionary - take a training / learning course 5. Are there any disadvantages of the Internet ? If so , what are they ? - Ask Ss to work in pairs to demonstrate their ideas about the benefits of the Internet . Step 2. While Writing :(16’) - Have students use the ideas they’ve just discussed to write a passage about the benefits of the Internet. - Monitor and help students with words or structures while they are writing. - Notes of using some conjunctions to write such as thirdly / firstly / finally / secondly / however . - Going around class and provide help if any . Correct some typical mistakes . Step 3. Post Writing :(10’) *Exhibition: - Give feedback and correct. - After students finish, call on some students to read their passages aloud before the class. *Discussion: - Ask students to discuss the disadvantages of the Internet. - Get them to discuss in groups and choose a speaker. - After discussing, the speakers from groups have to present their ideas before the class. * Suggested ideas: - time-consuming - costly - viruses - bad programs - spam/ electronic junk mail - personal information leaking - ....................................... IV. SUMMARY (2 minutes) - Writing a passage about the benefits of the Internet. V. HOMEWORK (2 minutes) - Ask students to write about the disadvantages of the Internet. -Prepare the next lesson: Language focus. write the correct words on the board : read three main cues about the benefits of the Internet . Work in group of 4 students to find the answers for the five questions Students use the ideas they’ve just discussed to write a passage about the benefits of the Internet. 2. Write : * Suggested ideas: Benefits of the Internet The Internet has increasingly developed and become part of our everyday life. And no one can deny the benefits of the Internet. Firstly, The Internet is a source of information. It is really a very fast and covenient way to get information. You can get the latest local or global news easily. You can check weather conditions before you go somewhere; eg. Go camping/ fishing/ outdoor...you can find a timetable and maps of the buses you want to take, you can book your tickets for the next concert or soccer match, trip or hotel etc... Secondly,Internet is a very fast and cheap way to communicate with your friends or relatives by means of email, chatting, webcam. Thirdly, the Internet is a source of entertainment, you can listen to all kinds of music, the radio, watch videos, we use the Internet not only to play games but also to read novels or do virtual sightseeing. Moreover,The Internet is also a rich source of educational materials/ courses. We can learn English through many interesting programs. We can look up a dictionary, take a training or learning course on the Internet. In conclusion,The Internet is a wonderful invention of modern life. And it makes our world a small village. 3. Skills : - Writing. 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading, writing, do ex. B. Past Simple tense:(9’) S + was / were + O S + V-ed / V2 + O Adv: yesterday, last week, last Sunday, ago, in 2007..... *Ex 1: Ask Ss to look at the dialogue in the book ( P 11) and guide: The dialogue between 2 Ss talk about things which Ba did last week. Work in pair then make the similar dialogues about Nga, Lan Hoa Ex 2: Use the Past form of the verbs: 2.The past simple with wish.6’ a.Modal could/ would with “ wish” : động từ tình thái could/ would dùng wish Subject + wish +( that ) + subject + could/ would + verb ( without to) Vd: I wish ( that) I could swim. Tôi ước tôi biết bơi (thật sự bây giờ tôi không biết bơi) I wish you would stop smoking. Tôi ước bạn sẽ bỏ thuốc lá b.Past simple tense with wish Định dạng: Subject + wish + (that) + subject + verb ( V-ed/ V2) Chú ý: Subject + wish + ( that ) + …..= If only + ( that )+…… Đối với động từ to be, thì were được dùng cho tất cả các ngôi Vd: I wish I could speak French now = If only I could speak french now. I wish I didn’t have to do this job = If only I didn’t have to do this job. c.Áp dụng: chúng ta dùng wish với động từ ở quá khứ đơn để nói rằng chúng ta tiếc nuối một điều gì đó hoặc điều gì đó xảy ra không như chúng ta mong muốn đồng thời cũng được dùng để diễn tả ao ước ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai. 3.Passive voice: 6’ Subject + be + past participle + by + agent This house was built by my grandfather a/ Simple present tense ( A ) S + V1 /V -es /s + O (P ) S + is /am are + p.p by + O b/ Simple past tense : (A ) S + V-ed /V2 + O + ( M ) (P ) S +was /were + p.p + ( M ) + by + O c / Modal verbs : Will / shall /can / could /must/ should /may / might / have to / used to / be going to (A ) S + Modal verb + V1 + O + (M ) (P ) S + Modal verb +be +p.p + ( M ) + by + O d / Present perfect tense : ( A ) S + have /has +p.p + O + ( M ) ( P ) S + have / has + been + p.p + (M ) + by + O 4.Preposition of time: 6’ - at ( lúc, vào lúc) dùng cho thời gian trong ngày và vào những ngày lễ vd: at 5 o’clock, at 11:45, at midnight, at Christmas - on ( vào) dùng cho ngày, ngày tháng, ngày tháng năm và các ngày cụ thể vd: on Wednesday, on 15 April, on 20 July 1992, on Christmas day , on Friday morning, on my birthday - in ( trong, vào): dùng cho tháng năm mùa thế kỷ và các buổi trong ngày ( ngoại trừ at night) - after: sau, sau khi shortly after six ( sau sáu giwof một chút) after lunch half after seven in the morning( nữa tiếng sau bảy giờ vào buổi sang) I’ll see you after the meeting - before: trước, trước khi before lunch two days before Christmas the day before yesterday She regularly goes for a run before breakfast - between: giữa hai khoảng thời gian Lưu ý:- không dùng các giới từ in, on, at trước every, last, next, this, tomorrow, yesterday… - các giới từ chỉ thời gian: about, by, during, for, from, since, till, until, to,.. - for: trong khoảng thời gian - since: từ, từ khi, - till/ until: đến, cho đến khi - up to: đến, cho đến 5.Adverb clauses of result.6’ so / therefore + clause Ex: Ba went to bed early because he was tired.  Ba was tired, so he went to bed early.= Ba was tired; therefore, he went to bed early. 6. Present perfect: 6’ S+ have/ has + p.p (V-ed /V 3) +O Adv: just, already, ever, never, since, for, yet (already: is used in affirmatives, ever: in questions, yet: in questions and negatives) - Give the main structures Look at the dialogue in the book ( P 11) Work in pair then make the similar dialogues about Nga, Lan Hoa -Write the dialogues 1.Yesterday, I (go)______ to the restaurant with a client.(khách hàng) 2.
