OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to… 1. Knowledge By the end of this lesson, students will be able to compare features of cities around the world. Vocabulary: (n) amusement park, shopping mall, building, public transportation. (adj): modern, crowded, noisy, peaceful, fantastic, comfortable. Structure: description with adj: The shopping mall is always crowded 2. Competences - They will improve reading skill, listening skill - They will develop the competences such as self - control, independent- learning, creativity and problem-solving. 3. Qualities - Students are active to broaden and percept the knowledge - Students can show their interest in travelling. - They will have the good attitude to working in groups, individual work, pair work, cooperative learning. II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS. Lesson plan, PPT slides, student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/TV, speakers, DCR & DHA on EDUHOME, handouts… III. PROCEDURE A. Activity 1: Warm up (5’) a) Objective: To set the scene for the new lesson b) Content: Pictures about some landmarks in the world c) Product: to understand and have general ideas about the topic d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents - T shows landmarks in some countries, let students match them to the right countries. - Students do as direct. - T checks and correct, then leads to the new lesson. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to… 1. Knowledge By the end of this lesson, students will be able use comparative adjectives to compare two things and superlative adjectives to compare more than two ones. - Vocabulary: (adj) exciting # boring, cheap # expensive - Structure: comparative & superlative (short adj, long adj, special cases) 2. Competences: - Students can use the knowledge to complete the exercises, practice the language aspects in communicative situations. - They will improve the use of English - They will develop the competences such as self - control, independent- learning, creativity and problem-solving. 3. Qualities: - Students are active to broaden and percept the knowledge - They will have the good attitude to working in groups, individual work, pair work, cooperative learning. II. Knowledge By the end of this lesson, students will be able to identify the word stress in words. - Vocabulary: review words of describing adjectives - Pronunciation: word stress - Skills: Speaking, listening 2. Competences - They will improve speaking skill and the use of language - They will develop the competences such as self - control, independent- learning, creativity and problem-solving. 3. Qualities - Students are active to broaden and percept the knowledge - Students will distinguish the differences between two places - They will have the good attitude to working in groups, individual work, pair work, cooperative learning. II. TEACHING EQUIPMENT AND LEARNING MATERIALS. Lesson plan, PPT slides, student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/TV, speakers, DCR & DHA on EDUHOME, handouts… III. Activity 2: Pronunciation (5’) a) Objective: To get Ss learn the word stress b) Content: Pronunciation (Page 83) c) Product: Ss can read the words with the correct stress in communication d) Competence: Communication, collaboration, critical thinking, problem -solving e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents Presentation: - T shows an example to the class, speaks louder for students to recognize the difference. (noisy – noisier: the stress unchanged) - Ss listen - T gives more explanation, gives more examples to make it clear. - Ss listen and repeat, focus on the underlined words: do not change the stressed positions when ending “-er” (b/p. 83) Practice: - T plays audio and has Ss listen and cross out the wrong word stress - Ss listen and do the task - T corrects if necessary. - T has Ss read the words with the correct stress to their partners. - Ss do as guided - T checks and gives remarks Production: - T has Ss give some more examples for students to practice - Ss give examples - T has Ss read the words with the correct stress to their partners - Ss do as requested - T corrects and gives feedback. a. Post speaking: - T has groups compare the two places and decide where to go. - Ss compare the two places - T has some groups share their ideas with the class. - Ss present in front of the class. a.
