Aims: - Read the letter Hoa sent to her parents about routine and hygiene, complete the letter and know how to write a reply letter. - By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to write a letter to reply and talk about routine and hygiene. 2. Practice skill: - practice the comprehension reading skill,writing and speaking skill. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: Complete Hoa's letter, write a reply letter + Advanced knowledge: Write a reply letter about themselves. 4. Basic language: - Vocabulary: - Structure: Present simple tense. 5. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice writing and doing some exercises. B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster. C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Asking and answering, Re- call, Gap – fill, Transformation writing D. Procedure : I.Organization: ( 1 minutes) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 7 Teacher's activities SS' activities II. WARM UP (4 minutes) Chatting - Teacher asks Ss to tell what they did yesterday. What did you do yesterday ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ III. NEW LESSON Step 1 : Pre Writing (13ms): 1. Re- call - Ask ss to talk about Hoa’s Mom letter by writing the questions on the board - Divide the class into 2 groups . Ss from each group go to the board and write the answers for the questions . Answer key : 1. Yes, she did. 2. Yes, she will . 3. Yes, she can . 4. Yes, she does . 5. No, she doesn’t. 6. Yes, she will . 2. Gap – fill - T asks some questions. a) Is the letter completed? ( No). b) How many blanks are there? (12). c) What do you have to do now? ( fill the words in to the blanks). - Ask Ss to work in pairs to complete the letter (A4.P1) . - Ask dd compare with each other. - Ask some pairs to give their answers. - Give feedback. Step 2 : While Writing(17ms): - SS work in group of 4 write the complete letter on posters. Step 3 : Post Writing: 1) Transformation writing - Have Ss write a reply letter to their pen pals, telling what they do everyday . Ss may change suitable activities in Hoa’s letter . - Let Ss 10 minutes to write. - Teacher goes round the class and takes notes the common mistakes. 2) Sharing and comparing - Ss swap their writings among the table . Find the mistakes and correct to each other. - Ask some good Ss to read aloud their letters for feedback. - Teacher writes common mistakes on the board to correct. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ IV. SUMMARY (1 minute) - Writing a letter to reply and talk about routine and hygiene. V. HOMEWORK (2 minutes) Exercises in the workbook. Prepare the next lesson Unit 10 B1 - Ss answer the question. Aims: - Know more vocabulary about toothache, dentist's surgery and toothache feeling. - By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to understand the dialogue about a visit to the dentist 2. Practice skill: - Practice the comprehension reading skill,listening skill. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: Understand the dialogue between Minh and Hoa, answer the questions B1, remember the words about toothache and the way to fill a cavity. + Advanced knowledge: Write about the last time they had a bad toothache. 4. Basic language: - Vocabulary: + Nouns: a toothache, dentist, an appointment, sound, the drill, a cavity, uniform, advice + Adjectives: scared, loud, kind + Adverbs: afterwards, less, regularly, sensibly + Verbs: to look after, to fix, to fill the cavity, to hate, to hurt, to remind, to explain - structure: The past simple tense. 5. Attitude: - Sts will have attitude to take care of their teeth well. B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster. C. T/F Prediction - Set the scene : Minh and Hoa are talking about toothache. - Teacher sticks the poster on the board . Ask Ss predict T of F. - Collect Ss’ ideas and write on the board. Step 2 : While Reading(17ms): Activity 1 : Checking prediction - Ss read the dialogue B1.P103 and correct their predictions. - Give feedback Activity 2: Matching - Ask ss run through the two columns. - Ask ss to work individual to read the dialogue again to match the English words with the Vietnamese meaning. - Ask ss t compare with eacother. - T ask some ss to go to the board to match the words. - Teacher corrects. - Ss copy down. Activity 3: Comprehension questions - Ss work in pairs, ask and answer the questions Step 3 : Post Reading(7ms): Find someone who... - Teacher draws the table on the board . Practice skill: - practice the comprehension reading skill, listening and speaking skill. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: Listen to answer the questions B2, complete the summary B3. + Advanced knowledge: Tell about Dr Lai's job. 4. Basic language: - Vocabulary: to remind, to explain, surgery, serious, to smile at, healthy, to notice - structure: Try not to forget, brushing teeth is very important. 5. Attitude: - Sts will have attitude to take care of their teeth well. B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster. C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Open – prediction, Pre- questions, Answer given, Recall. D. Open – prediction - Ss predict the answers for the questions B2 a-> d Step 2 : While Listening (10ms): - Teacher plays the tape twice . - Ss listen and check their predictions. - Give feedback and correct. Key : a) Dr. Lai is a dentist b) She wear a set of uniform while she was working. c) Most children feel scared when they come to see Dr. Lai. d) She explains what will happen. She give them advice. She tells them how to look after their teeth and she reminds them to clean their teeth regularly and eat sensibly. Step 3 : Pre Reading(7ms) : 1. Vocabulary : Checking : What and where 2. Pre- questions - Teacher gives the questions and asks sts to guess the answers. Step 4 : While reading(11ms) Activity 1 : Checking the prediction - Ss read the text and answer the pre- questions.
