OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to… 1. Knowledge - pronounce most two-syllable adjectives learnt with correct primary stress. - exchange information about movies. 2. Competences - improve pronunciation and speaking skills. - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study, to solve problems and other skills 3. Quality - have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially with the topic “movies”. II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS. Lesson plan, PPT slides, student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/TV, speakers, DCR & DHA on EDUHOME, handouts… III. PROCEDURE A. Activity 1: Warm up (5’) a) Objective: To help Sts relax, and to arouse Sts' interests in the new lesson. b) Content: Playing a memory game c) Product: Student know how to play the game d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, concentration and memorization e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents - T prepares the cards with numbers (from 1 to 12) on one side and the words and their Vietnamese meanings on the other side. - Ss observe - T sticks the cards on the board so that students can only see the numbers, make sure the pictures of films / adjectives are mixed up. - Ss are divided into two teams. Each team choose 2 numbers. - T turns the cards over if they match. If not, turn the cards over again and ask the next team to continue. - Ss join the game - T goes on until all the cards are turned over. Activity 2: Pronunciation (5’) a) Objective: To pronounce two-syllable adjectives with correct stress b) Content: Listening, saying the words with correct stress.... c) Products: Sts know how to pronounce two-syllable adjectives. d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, critical thinking e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents * Presentation: - T briefly explains the pronunciation feature / stressed syllable of 2-syllable adjectives - Ss listen to the explanation carefully and take notes - T plays the audio (CD2 - 21) and draws Ss' attention to the stressed syllable - Ss listen - T plays the audio again and has Ss repeat with a focus on the feature. Practice - T plays the audio and has Ss listen and cross out - Ss listen and cross the wrong word stress - T plays the audio again and checks the answer as a whole class - Ss give the answers - T gets Ss to practice saying the words with the correct words stress - Ss practice in pairs - T asks Ss to read aloud in front of the class - Ss read loudly - T gives feedback and corrects Production - T has Ss give some more examples - Ss give some examples - T corrects a. Listen and cross out the one with the wrong word stress. * Answer: funny - Wrong. Stress is on the second syllable. d.
