Knowledge + The aims: Reading a text for details about the media. By the end of the lesson ss will be able to know more about the media. -Vocabulary: +, in’vent , crier, shout, ‘viewer, ‘channel, inte’ractive , remote control ,‘benefit - Structure: Review : S + love + V-ing. 2. Skills : - Practice listening, speaking, reading, writing. 3. Attitude: Help ss to have good consciousness in order to know more about the media. B. Preparations 1.Teacher : posters, computer, Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, speaker, projector. 2. Students: Unit 5 Listen and read C. Methods: - Individual work, group work. - Some techniques can be used: questions and answers, matching, word cue drill, survey,writing, reporting. D. Procedure : I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 9A 9B II: Warm up(2') Net work T: Look at the picture on the board. Tell about some media. T.V, newspapers, radio, magazines, Internet are media. (medium – singular noun) III. New lesson : Period 27 Unit 5 The media Step 1 : Presentation ( 10’ ) 1.Vocabulary : T elicits models( Ss: chorally,Individually) Copy. +, in’vent (v) : phát minh (translation ) +, ‘crier (n): người rao tin tức trên đường phố (picture) +, shout (v) kêu to (picture) +, ‘viewer (n) người xem (picture) +, ‘channel ( n) kênh ( truyền hình ) ( situation ) +, inte’ractive (a) tương tác ( translation ) +, remote control (n) điều khiển (picture) +, ‘benefit ( n) lợi ích ( translation ) - Check: +, VietNamese, part of speech +, Stress. - Check: Matching Write the new words in the list on the left hand side of the board. Write the translations on the right hand side of the board. Have Ss come to the board to items on the left with those on the right by drawing the line connecting them. - Now we are going to read the text about the media. Before reading, look at the table( P 41 ). Facts & Events ( Thực tế và sự kiện), Passage Letter -Run through - Have Ss complete the table with the pasage letters in which these facts or events are mentioned. - Collecting the answer from Ss - Answer key: FACTS & EVENTS PASSAGE LETTER 1. A 6. Interactive TV is available now. D * Answer the questions: ? How many questions are there? - Read aloud each question. – What does it mean? - Find the answers and underline them. - T asks – Student answers. - T shows all the answers on the board. WEEK 14 Date of preparing: 2/12/2021 Period 28 UNIT 5 : THE MEDIA LESSON 3 : Listen A. The aims of the lesson 1. Knowledge + The aims: By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to know the basic information about the historic developments of the media : printed newspaper , telegraph , radio , TV . -Vocabulary: print, telegraph, invent, major, force, journalism - The past simple 2. Skills : - Practice listening, speaking, reading, writing. 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice listening, writing B. Preparations 1.Teacher : posters, computer, Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, speaker, projector. 2. Students: Unit 5 Listen C. Methods: - Individual work, group work. - Some techniques can be used: N & C, W & W, roleplay. D. Procedure : I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? III / New lesson (36’) Step 1. Pre- listening : 1.Vocabulary: Introduce the aims of the lesson and some new words - Printed newspaper (n) : Explanation - Telegraph ( n) : Translation - Radio and newsreels ( n) = radio and documentary - Journalism ( n) - Viable * Checking Technique : What and where 2.Prediction: - Introduce the aims of the lesson “ Chau – a student was given an assignment about the inventions of the media . She needs some information to finish her assignment . She is asking her father for some information .” - Have Ss look at the table and predict . - Write their predictions on the board . Step 2 . While - listening : - Turn on the tape ( 2 or 3 times ) - Ask them to exchange their results to compare . - Call on four Ss to write their results on the board . - Turn on the tape again and check their answers . Then give the correct answers : a) the late 19th century b) radio and newsreels c) in the 1990s d) the Internet - Call on some Ss to read the complete sentences aloud . Step3 . Post - listening : Play role - Ask Ss to play role of Chau and Chau,s father , using the information they have heard and these questions : 1. When and where was the first newspaper appeared 2. When was the telegraph invented ? 3. What two new forms of news media appeared in the early 20th century ? 4. When was television become popular ? 5. What became a major force in journalism in the mid and late 1990s ? - Call on some pairs to practice in front of the class. - Listen and correct mistakes if any . IV. Summary :(1’) Listening about the media V / Homework : (2’) 1. Copy the answers and learn by heart new words . 2. Do the exercises in workbook . Ask students to write about their favorite type of media and the reason why. 3 . Prepare the next lesson . Unit 5 Read Play games - Listen carefully .
