Aims: By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to know something about Ao dai, the traditional dress of Vietnamese women. 2. Practice skill: - Practice the comprehension reading skill,writing and speaking skill. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: Read the text for details about Ao dai, the traditional dress of Vietnamese women. + Advanced knowledge: Answer some questions about the text. Use the present perfect and the passive. 4. Basic language: Present perfect: to talk about an action or a state which began in the past and continues to the present. The passive ( review ): be + past participle - Words about clothing: types/ styles, colours, fashions, material, designs , poet, a long sick tunic, slit, inspiration, ethnic minirities, pattern 5. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading for detalis, doing some exercises and use the present perfect and the passive. B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster. C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Crossword, What and where, D. It is the belief in superhuman especially in Gods - Remark and lead in the new lesson. => Key word : Clothing III.New lesson . Step1.Pre – reading : (10’) Introduce “ Today we will learn about the traditional costumes of some countries . First , you look at the dresses that some people are wearing Decide where each person comes from : - Call on some Ss to demonstrate their ideas in front of class. - Correct and give the right answers : + She comes from Japan . She is wearing a Kimono . + She comes from Viet Nam . She is wearing an Ao dai + He comes from Scotland . He is wearing a kilt . + She comes from India . She is wearing a Sari . + He comes from the USA . He is wearing a Cowboy . + She comes from Arabia .She is wearing a Veil. - Explain some costumes to students . - Eliciting about Ao dai of Viet nam and ask some questions : 1. What do you know about Ao dai ? 2. What material is Ao dai often made from ? 3. Who wears the Ao dai ? 4. Is modern Ao dai different from the old one ? ……. - Remark and explain some new words : + Poet (n) Ex : To Huu is a great poet . + Musician (n) Ex : Trinh Cong Son is a great Musician . + Long silk tunic (n) : Translation + Loose pant ( n) Translation + Ethnic minorities (n) Explanation + Traditional designs (n) + Fashionable (a) Translation • Checking technique : What and where Step2. While reading :(16’) - Now look at “ Listen and Read “ and turn on the tape . Then complete the sentences , using the information from the passage . - Call on some Ss to read their answers aloud - Correct and give the correct answers : 1. …poems , novels and songs . 2 ..long silk tunic with slits up the sides worn over loose pants . 3. ... To wear modern clothing at work . 4. ….lines of poetry on it . 5. ... Symbols such as suns , stars , crosses and stripes - Ask them to read the text aloud in front of class. - Have Ss read the text again and answer the questions - Ask them to exchange their results and compare with a friend . - Call on some pairs to practice asking and answering . - Listen and correct mistakes if any . - Give correct answers : 1. Traditionally , men and women used to wear the Ao dai . 2. Because it is more convenient . 3. They have printed lines on poetry on it or have added symbols such as suns , stars , crosses , and stripes to the Ao dai . Step3 . Post –reading : (10’) - Get Ss to work in pairs to ask and answer the questions about the Ao dai . - What color is popular with Ao dai ?/ with students at high school ? / with the middle – aged …? - Go around and help them if necessary . - Call on some pairs to practice in font of class. - Remark and correct mistakes . IV.Summary (2’) Say something about ao dai V.Homework (1’) 1. Learn by heart new words and make some examples with each one . 2. Do the exercises in the ex book . 3. Prepare the next lesson: Unit 2: Speak Play games Ss to demonstrate their ideas in front of class. - Repeat all the words in chorus and individually . - Listen carefully - Listen and copy down . Ss read the text again and answer the questions - Practice answering the questions . Practice skill: - Ask and respond to questions on personal reference speaking 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: Asking and responding to questions on personal preferences + Advanced knowledge: Ask and answer to make a list of types of clothing that most Ss in the class like wearing on different special cases. 4. Basic language: - Present simple - Words about clothing 5. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice speaking about types of clothing. B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster. C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Noughts and Crosses, survey, interview D. Procedure : I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? III. New lesson Step 1.Pre speaking (12’) - Introduce “ In the last lesson , we got some information about Ao dai the traditional dress of Viet Nam . Step 2.While speaking : (15’) - Introduce “ Now work in groups to discuss and write two more questions for the last section of the survey .” Suggested questions : 1. What type of clothing do you wear on Tet holiday ? 2. What do you wear when you go to the party ? - Now use the questions in the survey to interview members of another group . The words in section a may help you . + Go around class and provide help if necessary . - Call on some Ss to report in front of class . - Remark and correct mistakes . Step3.Post speaking : (10’) - Now report the results they have interviewed in front of class as examples in the book . - Call on some representatives to demonstrate . - Correct and give the suggested answers : Huong said that she liked to wear faded jeans on the weekend because she felt very comfortable . Lan said that a colorful T –shirt was his favorite type of clothing . People aid that the blue uniforms of their school were very beautiful and comfortable . IV. Summary(1’) to know and talk about the types of clothing such as colorful T shirt , plaid skirt , plain suit , blue shorts V. Home work : (2’) 1. Learn by heart new words . 2. Do exercises in workbook . 3.
