OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to… 1. Knowledge - express opinions and exchange information about movie 2. Competences - improve Speaking skill and read for specific information. - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self - study, to solve problems and other skills 3. Quality - have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially with the topic “movies”. II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS Lesson plan, PPT slides, student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/TV, speakers, DCR & DHA on EDUHOME, handouts… III. PROCEDURE A. Activity 1: Warm up (5’) a) Objective: To help Sts relax, and get interested in the topic of the lesson b) Content: Chatting c) Product: Sts talk about a movie. d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, public speaking, critical thinking e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents - T asks Ss to list some kinds of movie to lead in the new lesson. - Ss do as requested - T asks students some kinds of films they often watch in their free time. - Ss answer - T leads into the new lesson. Activity 2: New words (15’) a) Objective: To use some adjectives to describe movies.... b) Content: Filling in the blanks, talking about kinds of movies.... c) Products: Sts can use a number of adjectives to express opinions about movies. d) Competence: Collaboration, communication e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents Presentation - T teaches some vocabulary by using some techniques. - Ss give the meanings of words - T guides Ss to read the new words - Ss listen and repeat the words chorally and then individually - T checks Ss’ memorization of words by asking them to play the game: Slap the board - Ss play the game. Activity 3: Reading (20’) a) Objective: To be able read for main ideas and specific information b) Content: Underlining the correct final sentences/ reading the reviews again and answering the questions. c) Products: Sts can understand the main ideas of the movie reviews and identify some specific information about them. d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, analytical and synthesizing skills e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents * Pre - reading: - T sets the context and introduce the topic of the reading task. - Ss listen * While - reading: - T has Ss read the two movie reviews and underline the final sentences. - Ss read the movie reviews individually - T asks Ss to share the answers with their partners. - Ss share the answers in pairs - T asks Ss to give the reasons for their choice - Ss give the answers and the reasons - T checks the answer as a whole class. - T lets Ss look at the questions, underline the key words - Ss look at the question’s individually. - T asks Ss to read them again and answer the questions individually - Ss do as requested - T aks Ss to give answers. - T gives feedback and correct the answers * Post - reading - T encourages Ss to talk about their favorite movies - Ss work in groups of four. - T calls on some Ss to present their answers in front of the class. - Ss do as requested - T checks and give remarks. a. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to… 1. Knowledge - use the Past Simple with "to be" was/ were to talk about completed events, states, or actions. 2. Competences - improve the use of language, writing, speaking skills. - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study, to solve problems and other skills 3. Quality - have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially with the topic “movies”. II. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to… 1. Knowledge - pronounce most two-syllable adjectives learnt with correct primary stress. - exchange information about movies. 2. Competences - improve pronunciation and speaking skills. - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study, to solve problems and other skills 3. Quality - have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially with the topic “movies”. II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS. Lesson plan, PPT slides, student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/TV, speakers, DCR & DHA on EDUHOME, handouts… III. PROCEDURE A. Activity 1: Warm up (5’) a) Objective: To help Sts relax, and to arouse Sts' interests in the new lesson. b) Content: Playing a memory game c) Product: Student know how to play the game d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, concentration and memorization e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents - T prepares the cards with numbers (from 1 to 12) on one side and the words and their Vietnamese meanings on the other side. - Ss observe - T sticks the cards on the board so that students can only see the numbers, make sure the pictures of films / adjectives are mixed up. - Ss are divided into two teams. Each team choose 2 numbers. - T turns the cards over if they match. If not, turn the cards over again and ask the next team to continue. - Ss join the game - T goes on until all the cards are turned over. Practice - T plays the audio and has Ss listen and cross out - Ss listen and cross the wrong word stress - T plays the audio again and checks the answer as a whole class - Ss give the answers - T gets Ss to practice saying the words with the correct words stress - Ss practice in pairs - T asks Ss to read aloud in front of the class - Ss read loudly - T gives feedback and corrects Production - T has Ss give some more examples - Ss give some examples - T corrects a. Track 21 M: awful, boring, action * Notes: - Word stress (chủ âm của một từ) là một vần hay một âm tiết của từ đó được đọc mạnh và cao hơn những vần còn lại, nghĩa là phát ra âm đó với một âm lượng lớn hơn và cao độ hơn. - For most two-syllable adjectives, they are stressed on the first syllable (Hầu hết các tính từ hoặc danh từ có 2 âm tiết thì trọng âm thường được nhấn ở âm tiết thứ nhất: Ex: early, happy, better c. Listen and cross out the one with the wrong word stress. * Answer: funny - Wrong. Stress is on the second syllable. d. Activity 3: Practice (10’) a) Objective: To express opinions and exchange information b) Content: Practicing in pairs c) Products: Sts expressing opinions and exchange information about movies. d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, critical thinking, public speaking e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents - T models first, then asks students to work in pairs and practice the conversation. - Ss work in pairs - T asks Ss to swap roles and repeat using the ideas given. - Ss do as requestd - T has some pairs present in front of the class. - Ss present in pairs - T corrects and give feedback. - T asks Ss to work in pairs and practice the conversation with their own ideas, then swap the roles. - Ss work in pairs - T allow time for students to do the task. - T monitors the activity around the class. - Some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class. - T gives feedback and corrects if necessary.
