Aims: - Help ss practice in past progressive, past progressive with when and while and progressive tenses with “always” . 2. Practice skill: - Practice reading, writing, speaking, listening skill. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: Practice in past progressive, past progressive with when and while and progressive tenses with “always” . + Advanced knowledge: Write sentences using structures with past progressive, past progressive well. 4. Basic language: - Grammar: past progressive, progressive tenses with “always” - Vocabulary: mailman, drum, race, lose, umbrella 5. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice in past progressive, progressive tenses with “always” .They can give complaints. B. Teaching- aids: Textbook, pictures, posters, computer, projector. C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Pelmanism, R & R, matching, Noughts & Crosses, writing, (exhibition), LN D. Form: S + WAS / WERE + V-ING - Diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra trong qúa khứ ( sử dụng quá khứ tiếp diễn) thì có hành động khác xen vào ( sử dụng quá khứ đơn).(An action was taking place in the past when another action took place.) While + past progressive (trong khi) When + simple past (khi) - Form: S +was/were + V-ing + when + S + V (past) S + V (past) + O + while + was/were + V-ing (Or : S +was/were + V-ing + while + S +was/were + V-ing… . We will learn this in other lessons) Step 2. Practice 10’ 1. Past progressive (LF 1 p.119) - Ask ss to look at the pictures on p.119 carefully. - Tell ss to match the phase with the correct pictures. - T reads the verbs aloud. 1- Walk with a dog 2- eat dinner 3- take a shower 4- talk to Grandma 5 – read a comic 6 – write a letter. - Call on some ss to give their answers - T gets feedback and corrects: a-3 b-2 c-5 d-6 e-1 f-4 * Word cue drill: - T shows the cardboards and go through the verbs 1. Ba / take a shower 2. Hoa / have dinner 3. Bao / read a comic 4. Nga / write a letter 5. Na / walk with her dog 6. Lan and her Grandma / talk to each other. - T models 1st sentence and ask ss to repeat. - Noughts & Crosses T asks 2 teams to talk about Ba, Hoa, Bao, Nga, Na, Lan 2. LF 2 p.119: Past progressive with “when” and “while”: * Matching: T asks ss to match the half-sentences in column A to those in column B. - Call on some ss to give their answers. - T corrects and gets feedback: a-C b-F c-E d-B e-D f-A - Ask Ss to read aloud full sentences. Presentation: 4’ Present progressive with “always”: - T elicits the model from ss using Vietnamese. - Asks ss to repeat and write the sentence on the bb - Model sentence: Bao is always forgetting his homework. Be adv V-ing - Form: S + am/ is/are + always + V-ing. - Use: Present progressive with “always”: Dùng khi phàn nàn hay nói hành động được lặp đi lặp lại trong quá khứ gây cho người nói bực mình, khó chịu Practice: 8’ - T – W.C; Ss - T asks ss to write sentences , using the present progressive with “always”. 2 teams go to the board. - T and Ss correct. Aims: - Help ss read for details about traditional festivals. - By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to ask for explanations of events. 2. Practice skill: - Practice listening and reading skill. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: reading for details about traditional festivals. + Advanced knowledge: Talk about festivals and use compound words well. 4. Basic language: - Vocabulary: - fetch (v), yell (v), urge (v), rub, participate, award, teamate competition, judge. 5. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to read for details about traditional festivals. B. Teaching- aids: Textbook, pictures, posters, computer, tablets, projector, speaker. C.
