Aims: By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to listen a public announcement for specific information. 2. Practice skill: - Listening, speaking 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: Asking and responding to questions on personal preferences Listening for specific information. + Advanced knowledge: Ask Ss to describe a friend of theirs. 4. Basic language: - Present simple, present continuous, passive - Words about clothing 5. Attitude: - The Ss are excited about listening announcement about a lost little girl and some types of clothing. B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster. C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: : Networks , Matching D. Procedure : I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 9A 20/9 9B 24/9 9C 24/9 II. Warm up : (4’) Networks ( This game is about the kinds of clothes they have learnt ) - Call on Ss to write the words they have found - Correct mistakes if any III.New lesson 1. Pre-listening :(10’) - Introduce : “In this lesson , you will hear a public announcement about a lost little girl called Mary . First you name , the clothes in the pictures - Explain the clothes in the pictures : a) A: floral pants B: blue shorts C: polka dot skirt (váy ngắn có hoa văn chấm tròn) b) A: long - sleeved white blouse B: short - sleeved pink shirt C : short - sleeved white shirt c) A: Sandals B: boots C: shoes with flowers . - Have Ss read all of them aloud and copy . * Predition: - Ask them to predict Mary,s clothes . - Write the predictions on the board . 2. While - listening : (17’) - Turn on the tape ( 2 or 3 times ) - Ask Ss to compare the results they have heard . - Call on some Ss to read the answers aloud . - Correct and give correct answers : a) B : she is wearing blue shorts . b) A : She is wearing a long – sleeved blouse . c) C : She is wearing brown shoes . - Turn on the tape again and ask Ss to check their results . 3. Post - listening :(10’) Guide Ss to play game “ Who is she / he ? “ - Call on 1 Student to describe one of their classmates and ask others to predict . - Have Ss retell the students they have described * Exercise : Clothes – Phrasal verbs and idioms : Match sentences 1-10 with a-j A B 1. Can I try it on ? a. It is the same color . 2. Hang your coat up . b. Breakfast is on the table . 3. It does not fit c. You can not go to school in those shorts 4. It suits you . d. It is a formal occasion 5. It matches your eyes e. I am not sure if it is the right size . 6. Get dressed f. They are dirty . 7. Go and get changes g. it is cold outside . 8. We have to dress up this evening h. Red is your color 9. Take off your shoes i, I need a bigger size . 10. Put on a scarf . j. Do not leave it there . - Call on Ss to read their answers . Correct and give the right answers . IV Summary (1’). What is the text about? Vocabulary about casual clothes V. Home work : (1’) 1. Learn by heart all the clothes they have learnt . 2.Do exercises in the ex book 3 . Aims: : By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to know about basic knowledge and information about history of Jeans. 2. Practice skill: - Reading, 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: Read the text for details about Jeans + Advanced knowledge: Discuss the questions about wearing jeans and write down what they talk about. 4. Basic language: - Present simple, past simple. - Words about clothing, phrasal words : made from, named after , embroidered jeans and painted jeans 5. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to read the text for details about Jeans B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster. C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: W & W, Brainstorming, Matching D. Procedure : I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 9A 26/9 9B 26/9 9C 26/9 II. Warm up : (3’) Brainstorming - Call on some Ss to demonstrate . Suggested answers : Easy to wear Convenient Fashionable Durable - Remark and lead in the new lesson ( * Shark’s attack: JEANS ) III.New lesson Step 1.Pre reading :(10’) 1, Vocabulary: - ma’terial (translation) chất liệu - ‘cotton(realia) bông, sợi bông - wear out ( realia or explanation): use something so much that it no longer works, or can no longer be used: làm rách - style ( picture) kiểu dáng - embroider / ‘imbroider/( realia) thêu - ‘label ( realia) nhãn hiệu • Checking: W & W 2, Brainstorming:-Ask Ss the qts: What do you want to know about Jeans? Make qts. - Elicit qts from Ss: + Who first designed jeans? + When did jeans become popular?/ Why? + Where were jeans made? + what were jeans made of? + What are some famous jeans designers? Step 2. While - reading (20’) - Ask Ss to read the text to find out the answers and add more ideas. - Now you read the text and fill the missing dates and words . - Have Ss exchange their answers and compare with a friend . - Call on some Ss to read the answers loudly . - Correct and give the right answer : 1. 18th century ……. Jeans cloth 2. 1960s ………..students 3. 1970s ……….. cheaper 4. 1980s …….. fashion 5. 1990s …….... sale - Tell Ss to read the text again and answer the questions - Call on some Pairs to practice in front of class. - Remark and correct . Then give the right answers : 1. The word “jeans “ comes from a kind of material that was made in Europe . 2. The 1990s, fashions were embroidered jeans , painted jeans and so on . 3. Because jeans became cheaper . 4. Jeans at last became high fashion clothing in the 1980s 5. The sale of jeans stopped growing because worldwide economic situation got worse in the 1990s . - Ask some Ss to read the text aloud . Correct mistakes and pronunciation . Step 3. Post - reading : (9’) • Exercise : True / False Repetition Drill - Guide Ss to play game and give examples : 1. The word “jeans “ come from a kind of material that was made in Africa . 2. Many students wore jeans in the 1990. 3. Jeans became cheaper so many , many people began wearing jeans in 1970s - Correct mistakes and give correct answers ( part a) * Discussion: Have Ss work in groups to discuss the qts: 1. Do you like wearing jeans? Why? Why not? 2. What type of jeans do you love wearing? 3. Do you think jeans are in fashion? IV .Summary (1’) Recall the title of the text V. Home work (1’)1.Write down what Ss have talked about. Learn by heart all new words and translate the text into Vietnamese . 2. Do the exercise in workbook . 3. Prepare the next lesson: Unit 2: Write - Play games in groups . - Representatives from each group to demonstrate in the front . - Listen carefully . - Match the new words with its meanings . - Read them aloud - Copy in their notebooks . - Compare with a friend . - Read the answers loudly . - Copy down Work in pairs - Practice in front of class . - Repeat the answers aloud and copy .
