Aims: - Read the text and understand about schools in the USA - Talk about some differences between schools in the USA and schools in Viet Nam. - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read the text for details and compare an American school with a Vietnamese school. 2. Practice skill: - Further practice speaking, reading and writing skill. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: Read the text and understand about schools in the USA, correct the false sentences Summarize the main contents of the text through the 6 correct sentences Give out 3 differrences with schools in Viet Nam. + Advanced knowledge: Write a passage about schools in Viet Nam ( 5-10 sentences) 4. Basic language: - Vocabulary: school uniform, a 20- minute break, cafeteria ,snacks, popular, baseball, football, to wear, to sell. - Structure: There is / are no... two twenty minute breaks the other the most popular, after class activities 5. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading for details. B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster. C. Methods: - Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work - Some techniques can be used: Shark attack , True false prediction, grids, Transformation writing. D. Procedure: I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 7C 16/10 Teacher 's activities SS' activities II. WARM UP (3 minutes) Shark attack : - T give the lines of some words and tell them that the words are about school - T divide the class in to two teams and ask them to predict the letters of words --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. NEW LESSON Step 1 : Pre Reading(10ms) : 1. Vocabulary : Elicit – model – repeat – copy – check ( stress, pronuciation, part of speech) ( example ) ( translation ) ( traslation ) ( example ) ( antonym) Check voc : Rub out and remember Write the phrases all over the board, each phrase in the circle -Call on two teams of five students to the front of the class . -Call out the questions or staments and two ss run forward to slap the suitable answer on the board -The student slapping the correct answer first gets on mark. -Go on untill all the words slapped 2. True false prediction - Give a poster of six staments ( on page 45 ) on the board - Ask ss to keep their books closed and read the staments and guess which is true which is false - Ask ss to work in pairs to guess. - Give feedback Step 2 : While Reading(20ms) : Activity1: Checking prediction - Have ss to read the text A6 on page 44 and check their prediction. - Ask ss to correct of the staments are false. - Give feedback. Have them work in pairs. - Give feed back. Step 3 : Post Reading(9mns) Transformation writing - Ask ss to write a paragraph about schools in Viet Nam. Sts may use the grid. - Ask ss to work individual. - Go round the class and help ss if necessary - Take some student’s writing to correct before class. IV. SUMMARY (1 minute) - Reading a text about the schools in the USA comparing with Viet namese schools. 1. Is there school uniform in the USA?  No, there isn’t. 2. What time do classes start in the USA?  They start at 8.30 in the morning. 3. Are there lessons on Saturday in the USA?  No, they aren’t. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Students in Viet Nam have to wear uniform. Classes in the morning start at 7.00 and finish at 11.00. Classes in the afternoonstart at 1.00 and finish at 5.00 There are classes on Saturday. Students have lunch at home. There is one 15- minute break in the morning and one in the afternoon. There isn’t usually school cafetarial in Viet Nam. Aims: - Know the books in the school library - Ask and answer about the instructions in the library - Use the prepositions to talk about position of the books in the school library - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to get futher practice in library vocabulary by reading a dialogue 2. Practice skill: - Pracice listening, speaking, reading and writing skill. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: - Remember the books in the school library and prepositions of position - Ask and answer about the questions from a- g - Tell at least one book in the school library and its position + Advanced knowledge: Describe all the kinds of the books in the school library and their positions 4. Basic language: - Vocabulary: this, that, these, those, library, rack, dictionary, reader, novel, reference book, welcome, on the left, on the right, at the back, in the middle of. - Structure: Where are the magazines? They are on the racks in the middle of the room. Where can I find the Math books, please? They are on the shelves on the left. These racks have magazines and those racks have newspapers. 5. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading for details. B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster. C. WARM UP (4 minutes) Jumple words - Write the words with disorded letters on the board ( or use the poster ) - Devide the class into two teams - Ask students from each team to go to the board and write the correct words - The team which is faster with more correct words wins the game --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Activity 2 : Grid - Get ss to draw the grid in their notebooks - Encourage them to work individual and fill in the grid - Give feed back Activity 3 : Comprehension questions - Hve students read the questions on page 48 and work in pairs to answer the qestions. - Give feedback. Practice skill: - Listening, speaking skills about the books and position of the books in the school library. - Reading comprehension skills about a famous library. 3. The knowledge needs to get: + Standard knowledge: - Review the words of the school library through the listening text - Tell about the library in B4 through 5 answers (a-e) + Advanced knowledge: Learn B4 by heart. 4.
