Asking for and giving opinions. Write a passage 3.Skills: Speaking - Ask for and give opinions - Express agreement and disagreement - Talk about the development and the use of the media, especially the Internet Listening: Listen to monologues / dialogues within 130-150 words for general or specific information Reading: Read passages within 150-180 words for general or detailed information Writing: Write a passage within 80-100 words expressing opinions based on a model and guidelines given 4. Grammar:Tag questions, Gerunds after some verbs: like doing, enjoy doing 5. Vocabulary: - Words to talk about the media: history, development, different uses - Words to express opinions about the media: like,dislike, advantages, disadvantages II. The media. Leson 1. Getting started, Listen and Read. A. The aims of the lesson 1. Knowledge + The aims: Reading a text for details about the media. By the end of the lesson ss will be able to know more about the media. -Vocabulary: +, in’vent , crier, shout, ‘viewer, ‘channel, inte’ractive, remote control ,‘benefit - Review : S + love + V-ing. 2. Skills : - Practice listening, speaking, reading, writing. 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to know more about the media. B. Preparations 1.Teacher : posters, computer, Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, speaker, projector. 2. Students: UNIT 5 Getting started, Listen and read C. Methods: - Individual work, group work. - Some techniques can be used: questions and answers, matching, word cue drill, survey, writing, reporting. D. Procedure : I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 9A 7/12 9B 10/12 II: Warm up(2') Questions and answers ( Getting started) T: Look at the picture on the board. They are some favorite activities. ? What are they? Ss: watching T.V, reading newspapers, listening to the radio, reading magazines, using the Internet. Ss: Work in pair to ask and answer: A: Which of these is your favorite activity in your free time? B: Watching TV A: How many hours a week do you spend watching TV? B: About 4 or 5 hours, I guess. * Set the scene: As you know, T.V, newspapers, radio, magazines,Internet are media. ( medium – singular noun) Today we are going to learn about the media. III. Write the translations on the right hand side of the board. Have Ss come to the board to items on the left with those on the right by drawing the line connecting them. - Now we are going to read the text about the media. Before reading, look at the table( P 41 ). Facts & Events ( Thực tế và sự kiện), Passage Letter -Run through - Have Ss complete the table with the pasage letters in which these facts or events are mentioned. - Collecting the answer from Ss - Answer key: FACTS & EVENTS PASSAGE LETTER 1. Knowledge + The aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to talk to their friends about the TV programs that they like or dislike. -Vocabulary: violent, documentary, informative, - Tag questions, gerunds after some verbs. 2. Skills : - Practice listening, speaking, reading, writing. 3. Attitude: - Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice listening, speaking. B. Preparations 1.Teacher : posters, computer, Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, speaker, projector. 2. Students: UNIT 5 Getting started, Listen and read C. Methods: - Individual work, group work. - Some techniques can be used: Guessing game,make dilogues,questions and answers ,Brainstorming. D. Procedure : I.Organization: ( 1 minute) - Greeting: Good morning! - Who’s absent today? Class Date of teaching Absent students 9A 12/12 9B 11/12 Teacher’s Activities Students’ activities II. WARM UP (3 minutes) Guessing game: - Get students to think about the activities in their free time. * Possible answers: - playing video games. - chatting with friends. - reading newspapers/ magazines. - reading books. - playing soccer. - going shopping. - using the Internet. - Ask students to write his/her favorite activity in a small piece of paper and keep it secret. - Get students to ask Yes - No questions to guess the teacher’s favorite activity. Ex: Do you like watching TV? No. Do you like going shopping? No. Do you like chatting with your friend? Yes. - Call the students who has the correct guess to the front of the class and the game continue. III. NEW LESSON (38minutes) Step 1. Pre Speaking : (10’) 1. Vocabulary : 1. ( definition: showing great physical force). 2. ( definition: something written or printed that gives information ). 3. ( translation ) - violent ( adj ): bạo lực - documentary ( n ): tài liệu, phim tài liệu - informative ( adj ): giàu thông tin (hữu ích) *Checking vocabulary: Rub out and Remember. 2. Tag questions You like watching cartoon, do you? * Form: Affirmative statement , negative tag? Negative statement, affirmative tag? Tag: Auxiliary verb/ modal verb/ Be + personal pronoun/ N. * Use : A tag question has the same auxiliary as in the main clause. If the main clause has the full verb be, we use be in the question tag. If the main clause has have got, we use have in the question tag. We use do, does in present simple question tags and did in past simple question tags. We normally put a negative question tag with a positive statement, and a positive question tag with a negative statement. * Intonation: If we are asking a real question, we use a rising intonation. If we are sure about the answer, we use a falling intonation. 2.Tag questions - Ask students to complete the dialogue between Lien and trung ( ask them to keep their books closed ) * Answer keys: don’t you like/ love watching documentaries watch don’t you informative too do you I don’t Step 2: While Speaking (18’) - Have some students read the dialogue in pairs before class. - Check their pronunciation/ intonation of tag questions. - Let students work in pairs to practice the dialogue. - Have students pick out sentences showing agreement and disagreement and ask them to practice. * Brainstorming - Ask sts to think of the TV programs. songs I love sports folk music wildlife world programs documentary weather forecast news cartoon * Possible answers - Learning English. - Health for everyone. - Children’s corner. - Safe traffic News. - Literature and Art. - Drama. Step 3: Post Speaking (10’) - Have students talk to each other about the TV programs they like or dislike, making similar dialogues - Give examples . IV. SUMMARY (1 minutes) - Practice speaking about the programs on TV. EX 1. (P 47 sbt Tiếng Anh 9): Read the following passage.
