OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to… 1. Knowledge - know how to pronounce the /t/ sound and can do this well in the test - use the sound correctly in their speeches 2. Competences - improve the use of language - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study and other skills 3. Quality - have a positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities. II. TEACHING EQUIPMENT AND LEARNING MATERIALS. Lesson plan, PPT slides, student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/TV, speakers, DCR & DHA on EDUHOME, handouts… III. PROCEDURE A. Activity 1: Warm up (5’) a) Objective: The objective of this activity is to help Ss relax, checkup. and interest the topic of the lesson. b) Content: A game c) Product: Sts can review vocabulary learnt in the previous lesson d) Competence: Collaboration, observation, communication e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents - T has Ss work in groups of 4 to tell everyone in the group what the devices in the future home might be like - Ss work in groups of four - T walks around and gives support if necessary What devices might be like in the future? Activity 2: Pronunciation (5’) a) Objective: To get Sts learn the sound /t/ b) Content: Pronunciation (Page 75) c) Product: Sts can pronounce the sound /t/ correctly in communication d) Competence: Communication, collaboration, critical thinking e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents Presentation: - T gives some examples with /t/ sound - Ss listen - T explains how the sound /t/ is made - Ss listen and focus on the /t/ sound - T plays audio (CD 2/46) and draws attention to the focus sound. - Ss listen Practice: - T plays audio and has Ss listen and repeat the focus sound - Ss listen and repeat - T corrects if necessary. - T has Ss read the words with the correct sound to their partners. - Ss do as guided Production: - T has Ss give some more examples with the /t/ sound - Ss give examples - T corrects and gives feedback. a. Competences - improve their English skills - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study, to solve problems and other skills - ask and answer about the topic – space station 3. Quality - have a positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities - talk about life on a space station II. Activity 2: New words (10’) a) Objective: to have Ss learn some more vocabulary about the topic b) Content: New words (page 76). c) Products: Ss can know how to pronounce the new words correctly and talk about whether they’d like to live on a space station or not. d) Competence: Communication, collaboration, critical thinking e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents Presentation - T teaches some new words by using some techniques. - Ss listen and give the meanings of words - T guides Ss to read the new words - Ss repeat in chorus and then individual - T checks Ss’ memorization of new words by asking them to play the game: Rub out and Remember Practice - T lets students look at the pictures, read the sentences carefully and fill in the blanks with words given. Listen to Major Tomkins, an astronaut, talking about life on a space station. - Have Ss look at the questions. What’s the question people ask him the most? - Ask Ss to guess the answer to the question. Is it about the difficulties or happiness on a space station? - Play the audio once. - Check answer as a whole class. - Play the audio again for Ss to check their answers. b. Competences - improve their English skills - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study, to solve problems and other skills - ask and answer/ write a paragraph about the topic – space station 3. Quality - have a positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS. While – speaking: - T has Ss work in pairs to ask and answer about things that might be like living on the Moon. - Ss work in pairs to discuss the questions - T encourage students to talk in long sentences. - T calls on some pairs to share their answers - Ss do as requested. - T corrects and gives feedback. Activity 4: Writing (15’) a) Objective: to help Ss put all the target language into producing the language b) Content: Writing (Page 79) c) Products: Ss can use the target language to write a paragraph which is about 50 – 60 words about life on the Moon. d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, analytical & synthesizing skill, creativity e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's and Students’ activities Contents Pre writing: - T divides the class into groups of 3. - Ss work in groups - T asks Ss to write down 4 things about life on the Moon - T checks some groups and gives support if necessary. - Ss present their their ideas with the class - T corrects and give feedback. While writing: - T has Ss use their notes and the table at the right bottom of page and to write a paragraph about life on the Moon. - Ss work individually to write a paragraph about life on the Moon. - T gets Ss to cross check their work with a partner - T calls on some Ss to put their work on the board - Ss observe/ present the writing to the class - T gives comments and takes notes some mistakes on the board. Post writing: - T asks Ss to talk about the life on the Moon - Ss volunteer to present their answers in front of the class. - T listens and corrects some mistakes a.
