OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to… 1. Knowledge - pronounce the /ou/ sound correctly - preparing for an overnight adventure 2. Ability - improve pronunciation, speaking skill - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, and other skills 3. Quality - Ss have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially with the topic “The world around us" II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS. Lesson plan, PPT slides, Student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/ TV, speakers, DCR & DHA on Eduhome, CD player, handouts… III. PROCEDURES 1. Organization 1’ Class Date of teaching Absent students 6A 6B 6C A. Warm up: (5’) a) Objective: The objective of this activity is to help Ss relax, checkup. and interest the topic of the lesson. b) Content: Pelmanism c) Product: Ss can review vocabulary learnt in the previous lesson d) Competence: Collaboration, observation, communication e) Organization of the activity: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Pelmanism (Teacher - whole class) - Prepare 12 cards with numbers (from 1 to 12) on one side and the words and its meaning in Vietnamese on the other side. - Stick the cards on the board so that the Ss can only see the numbers; make sure the words and its meaning in Vietnamese are mixed up. - Divide the class into teams and ask them to choose two numbers at the same time. - Turn the cards over if the match: Ex: pillow - cái gối, that team gets one point. If not, turn the card over again and ask the next team to continue to choose numbers. - Continue until all the cards are turned over. Focus on the /ou/ sound. - Briefly explain the focused sound feature. b. Listen to the words and focus on the underlined letters. - Play the audio (CD2 - 35) and draw students' attention to the focus sound. - Play the audio (CD2 - 35) again and draw Ss' attention to the focus sound /ou/ c. Listen and repeat. - Play the audio again. d. Read the words with the correct stress to a partner. - Have Ss practice saying the words with a partner - Listen carefully. - Listen pay attention to the focus sound /ou/. - Listen and repeat with a focus on the pronunciation feature Ex: soap pillow phone - Listen and repeat chorus/ individually. - Practice saying the words using the sound correctly.  Activity 2: Practice (15’) a) Objective: To discuss plans for a trip and talk about things they need for a trip. b) Content: Practice on page 67 c) Products: plans for a trip, things for a trip. d) Competence: Collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity e) Organization of the activity: Teacher's activities Students' activities a. Work in pairs. Look at the list and choose the five most important items to bring with you and given reasons why. - Demonstrate the activity by practicing the role play with a student. Quality - have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, the awareness of loving natural wonders of Vietnam II. Where are they? 3.What are they famous for? ... - Tell natural wonders of Vietnam they have known or visited. * Possible answers: 1. Ha Long Bay is Viet Nam's most beautiful natural wonder. It's famous for many amazing islands and caves. - Or: Vietnam's 10 best natural wonders. 1. Ha Long Bay 2. Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park 3. Son Doong Cave 4. Phu Quoc Island 5. New lesson (35’)  Activities 1: New words (15’) a) Objective: To enrich Ss’ vocabulary about the topic b) Content: New words on page 68 c) Products: Ss learn vocabulary about natural wonders of Vietnam d) Competence: Communication, collaboration, presentation, pronunciation, creativity e) Organization of the activity: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities * Presentation: a. Write the letters in the boxes. These places are the best for people who like : doing sports/ taking photos. * Pre - listening - Set the scene and introduce the listening task. * While listening: (for general comprehension) - Play the audio (CD2 - 37) once. - Play the audio again and check the answer as a whole class. (Play part of the text again, pausing after particular remarks). b. Now, listen and number. - Have Ss look at the sentences - Play the audio (CD2 - 37) twice. - Play the audio again and check their answer as a whole class. Knowledge - read an email for giving advice about visiting natural wonders of Vietnam - talk about natural wonders - write a postcard giving advice about a place to visit 2. Ability - improve reading, speaking and writing skills - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study, to solve problems in conversation situations 3. Quality - have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, the awareness of loving natural wonders II. Answer the questions, then write a postcard to give advice about place in your country.
